About this house rental

Luxuriously equipped this is a home from home.Now with FIBRE BROADBAND .Beautiful private garden with amazing panoramic views of the provencal hills and down towards the sea,ideal for eating alfresco or just enjoying a glass of wine.You could stay tucked away from it all and never leave the house if so desired -other than to do the shopping.
French doors lead from the garden to the well furnished chefs kitchen with dishwasher ,fridge freezer,oven and dual fuel hob also a good variety pots pans cutlery etc. This opens to a large dining and sitting area around the feature fireplace.The downstairs bathroom is a good size with toilet and basin only,this also houses the washing machine and drier.
There is a good quality separate music system with radio and CDs on this floor also modem which works the wifi through the house and in to the garden also a Spanish guitar if you fancy a strum.
First floor large salon/bedroom with Moroccan double four-poster bed and cosy log effect electric fire,leather sofa,Moroccan iron sofa and antique chair.There is also a walk in wardrobe with storage space.We have a 50 inch hd TV with a large selection of blu rays and DVDs.Also a good and varied selection of novels and reference books.
Mezzanine floor with king sized brass bed,armoir,chest of drawers ,chair.The bathroom has a large marble tiled walk in shower,toilet and basin,with a plentiful supply of hot water.
HIGH SPEED FIBRE to the house 450 meg.A rental car is definately not needed as public transport is so good and cheap- read the reviews,I dont often use buses in the uk but here it makes sense.The ability to enjoy eating and drinking out in the garden with such lovely views and not rent a car could save you 500 euros a week.

This property is a real find....more a home-from-home than just a holiday rental....and with such Provençal style.The house is very well positioned on the slope facing the Renoir house on the opposite hill (a visit, a must! Buy the combined ticket for the house, and the Grimaldi Chateau in Haut de Cagnes, which is also well worth a visit).The 'navette' (free bus, No 44) is useful for the journey back up the hill with shopping (great market in Cagnes, and Intermarché just down the hill). Once your shopping is 'home', very well-equipped kitchen to cook it in!Simon the owner was very helpful, before and after arrival. We particularly found the hifi in the downstairs kitchen/sitting area useful.This is a lovely peaceful spot in, what can be a village busy with traffic and visitors....a haven to which we looked forward to returning after a day out.....so many things to see within the range of local buses - but beware the ticketting arrangement can be confusing; we bought a card from the driver on the 620 from opposite the airport which costs 4 each, and contains a deposit on the card and one journey. The card can be 'loaded' at many stops, but we went to the bus office at Cagnes sur Mer railway station to do it. Other places outside the range of the card can be reached by the Zou busses for which single tickets can be bought from the driver for 2.50.We hope to return next year.

It is a marvellous house with an incredible view. Sitting on the terrace with the flowers is wonderful. Be aware that the bedrooms are not separated by a door. Also the bed on the first floor is quite small so not perfectly suitable for tall adults. The kitchen is well equipped. The shuttle bus works really well. 44 square bourdet, stop for the house is sous barri. The house is just a few steps down. Good communication with the host Simon! We can recommend it!

Comfortable, fabulous views on spacious patio with plenty of seating, has all necessary amenities, Simon is a great host and is very responsive. Free bus to and from Cagnes-sur-Mer - bus 44 goes in one direction, round trip, departs from Square Bourdet in town - your stop for easy access to the house is Sous Barri, it’s one after Le Manoir near the Chateau. Pretty easy walk down to town, steep road back up to the house. We stayed for 2 weeks, would stay there again! Thanks Simon***

The area the house is in is the medieval village of Haut de Cagner in Cagners sur Mer. Not recommended for those with mobility issues as the streets are steep and mostly cobbled. Which is too bad as Maison d'Azur is a stylish modernized house with a lovely patio and great views. The house is fully equipped with several comfortable seating areas, a nice bathroom with shower and heat as well as a ground floor toilet room with laundry facilities. Our stay was in the during the late winter. Still cool enough that heating was required. Heating is available but it did struggle with achieving a comfortable temperature. In the summer and shoulder months the location would be lovely given the outdoor spaces. That being said it is a very nice vacation rental, we'll equipped, comfortable, clean, atmospheric, and well located. Conveniently there is a free shuttle bus that runs 3 times an hour that drops you only a few yards from your door. A bonus.

The house is situated in a beautiful location within the medieval village of Hauts de Cagnes. It is centrally located between Nice and Cannes and a car is not needed as there is such a good public network system either by bus or train. The property was clean (we loved the decoration) and extremely well equipped with cooking utensils etc plus books, DVDs and music should you need to have a rest from visiting the all the sites on the Côtes d’Azur. The terrace is a great place to eat, drink, read and relax. You even have a view of Renoir’s garden across the valley. There is a supermarket not too far from the house for all your shopping needs plus the market. We used the free shuttle every day and it is really very convenient. Cagnes sur Mer has a village feel to it. People are very friendly and there are lots of different restaurants to chose from. We ate twice at the Thai restaurant near the market. The food was fresh and of good quality. There was excellent communication with the owners from start to finish and we would not hesitate to book this property again

We had a lovely time in this beautiful, characterful property. The large terrace (with its beautiful views) is a huge bonus. Haut de Cagnes is spectacular and it’s ever so easy to pop to the shops in Cagnes sur Mer or to the beach, either on foot or by using the free shuttle busses. The central bus station in Cagnes is very handy if you want to explore Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Vence etc. We had a really great time!

A delightful area and house, but with a caveat of exceptional steep hill to access. Public transport was easy to use and we were able to visit local areas. For a self catering house a microwave would have been advantageous. Outside area has a great view, but let down by the garden area which needed tidying and housed loads of mosquitoes making it uncomfortable to sit out early evening. But everything considered it is a lovely place to stay.

A unique chance to stay in a 17th Century cottage in the medieval town in Cagnes-Sur-Mer. Lovely location amongst the narrow streets of historic homes, but be warned, it (like most such old towns) is built on the hill, leading up to the Chateau, so there are climbs up and down steep streets.

This property fits in so well with the surroundings and the experience of being on the Côte d’Azur. It has been standing for hundreds of years so it has historical charm yet offers a modern quality as it has all the amenities (appliances, kitchenware, etc..)one needs to be have a very comfortable stay. We could not have been more satisfied with our choice.

We enjoyed our late summer/early fall (Oct 22) stay in this lovely residence very much. The house is extremely well equipped (kitchen, household, bath, garden items), has a gorgeous view from the terrace and a very strong WLAN/Wifi ! In the summer and until the end of October it can be easily reached by public transportation from Nizza and Cagnes-sur-Mer has good connection to lovely places close by. Arriving with car in particular with small children or elderly persons not well walking uphill should seek the advice of the very friendly host, Simon, since the property is close to the castle and thus on the hill.. We had a great time !

Fantastic house in an unbeatable location. This is in Hauts-de-Cagne, a sought-after and beautiful medieval hilltop village with a traditional village square, restaurants, tabac, and free local shuttle to get you rapidly into town. The house itself has two "open" bedrooms on separate floors, so it's great for a couple who might expect an overnight guest. It's spacious, comfortable, and has everything you'll need, including an excellent kitchen and dining area for cooking and entertaining. Simon and Maura are very responsive in case of any issues (they even replaced the toaster while we were here!). The front terrace is very private and looks out over a valley and down to the sea, with a view of the lovely Renoir Museum. Wish we could have stayed longer, and are looking forward to our next visit!

Many aspects of Maison Azur recommend it: 1. its location in the medieval village of Haut de Cagnes near Nice. This village is absolutely charming! 2. its unique character as a stone building several centuries old 3. its views and spacious garden & outdoor sitting/eating areas 4. its excellent wifi and flat screen tv 5. a pleasant owner/manager We did find that a couple of things might be improved: 1. Furnishing a few basics, such as sugar, toilet paper, and a few laundry powder/tabs, dishwasher tabs wuld have been greatly appreciated 2. it would have been nice to have a microwave 3. some appliances require some explanation and manuals and not just post-its. The home manual on the chimney mantel could use some more details, especially about the house itself, such as location of some basic items and what is expected for checkout. 4. some characteristics of this unique property, such as lack of doors and the only shower being located on the top (third/mezzanine) floor, while acceptable, were not very desirable. All in all, I'd recommend Maison Azur, but not completely without reservation.

A great stay in this wonderful house. It's a very quiet and lovely place. The home is decorated with lots of taste. There is cool view from the terrace. We could fifind everything : shops, walks, beach... In winter to park is not a problem.

The house is well equipped and comfortable. The terrace provides lovely views and a great place to eat, read, relax and watch the world go by. Ideal location to explore area. Easy access to public transport to visit the many coastal sites. We had car and took the opportunity to visit the inland hilltop villages and away from the crowds. Owner was very helpful in preparing to visit the house and area.

We have just returned from a most wonderful nine week holiday in this quaint French home in an idyllic setting . It is a lovely house sitting in a warren of medieval houses on a steep hill ( worry not, there is a free small local bus which travels from the square in Cagnes Sur Mer to the top of the hill and back every fifteen minutes ) . The top of the hill is a large square beside the Chateau Grimaldi, which accomodates five restaurants ,two boules pitches and a childrens’playground . The house is fully kitted out for a very comfortable holiday . We were especially delighted with the kitchen . It was very well equipped for all types of cooking . There was very good supply of towels and sheets . The house has a very large terrace with good outdoor furniture which overlooks a lovely green valley . It was so enjoyable to sit out , eat and take in the wonderful views with only birdsong as a background . Sitting inside the large shuttered windows also framed the views beautifully . The location is perfect as a base to explore the Côte d’Azure . As Cagnes Sur Mer is a sort of hub with a very regular bus service at 1.50 Euro per fare and a train station , one can travel very easily to Nice , Monaco , Antibes , Cannes , Bence , St Paul de Vence , Grasse and many more places . A car is unnecessary . Cagnes Sur Mer has a great selection of shops and boulangeries . We had excellent communication with our host Simon all through our stay . We can’t recommend this lovely house and location highly enough .

We had a wonderful time. The house is really well stocked with everything you could need to enjoy a great time. The kitchen allows for eating at home every day. Plenty of local restaurants and bars though. Well connected to transport network via buses and trains. The owner is really kind and helpful with lots of top tips and advice. Highly recommended!

The house was just as the pics and property description describes. Beautiful traditional French property in a STUNNING location. The outside terrace was our favourite part of the property. The layout is a little quirky - there is a bed on the 2nd floor within the lounge so it is 'open' but there were only 2 of us so we didn't use this bed anyway. We hired a car for a week (a small one) and didn't have any issues parking on the streets close to the house even in high season although you have to walk the last few yards to the house as the cobbles are very steep and narrow. Loved cooking in the well appointed kitchen and eating on the outside terrace. Owners are very thoughtful and communication was brilliant. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend - or stay again! It's simply lovely :)

Maison Azur is a beautiful and comfortable house in a stunning location. The view from the terrace is fabulous. The medieval village is a great place to stay. The beach and new town are a short walk or shuttle away and then you can retreat to the quiet of Haut Cagnes- a rare spot of tranquility on the riviera! The village square, a short walk up a (very steep!) hill is lovely- good number of excellent restaurants, pétanque pitches, children’s playground and wonderful view. We did train trips to Villefranche sur mer and Beaulieu sur mer- easy and cheap on the train and both beautiful. Villefranche in particular very unspoiled. We also went to Juan les Pins for a day on the lovely sand beach. Perfect location to explore the area. We will definitely be back. Thankyou Simon and Maura!

This was our third visit to Haut de Cagnes and we were attracted to Maison Azure by the description, photographs and the previous guest reviews. I think we all at some time have opened the door of our holiday home to find it does not live up to our expectations. However, this time it certainly did, Simon and Maura have put together their own little bit of paradise and we had been invited to share it. The house has everything that you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay, the terrace garden for us was the jewel in the crown. It is private, sunshine in the morning and early afternoon and some nice shade in the evening when you are enjoying your meal and your favourite bottle of wine. The free shuttle bus takes you down to the town, shop in the open and closed markets, try the seafood, it is first class. Bus travel is so easy and inexpensive and you can visit so many interesting places. We think Maison Azure ticks all the boxes and we can strongly recommend a visit there, you will not be disappointed. A big thank you to Simon and Maura for all their help, Mike and Daphne 23rd June 2018.

There is also a wonderful private terrace which is hard to find in this beautiful hilltop village. Great amenities and very cordial hosts - although we didn’t meet. It is a very nice 3-stories house at the south-east slope of Haut-des-Cagnes with a view over Cagnes-sur-Mer and the sea from the little lush garden. The garden is perfect for the evening meal together with a glass of rosé or sparkling. The house itself is very clean, cozy and comfortable in a charming oriental style. The kitchen is well equipped and a perfect place to treat the fantastic french food bought either at the food hall/market or in the Intermarche supermarket, both in walking distance with the bakery on the way. There are two toilets, the one on the top floor with a shower and the one on the bottom floor with washing machine and dryer. Very convenient! The only negative is that it is a bit difficult to find parking close by, but the car rental (Europcar) is also in walking distance and there is a free bus downtown and very cheap buses to surrounding cities and villages. The public beaches are also close and nice with showers and toilets. We had a terrific two weeks stay and can really recommend Maison Azur!

The house is an absolute delight to stay in. It was spotlessly clean and felt just like a proper home. I had the choice of 2 bedrooms and chose the 1st floor, slept like a baby with the windows wide open - not a sound at night! There is everything you need to cook proper meals - although there is a large choice of restaurants in walking distance. DON'T bring a car - no need public transport is so easy and cheap. The garden is lovely , very private with an amazing view. The sun goes off the garden around 4p.m. leaving a wonderful cool spot to enjoy the evening. I was here on my own to relax and do some work and the house and the town felt completely safe, all locals very friendly. I hope to come again as this town and house have found a special place in my heart, a wonderful find. Thank you so much for sharing your home with me.

This is a beautiful property in a wonderful location with magnificent views from the terrace over the Provencal hills. It is very well equipped - indeed every time we opened a cupboard we found something else we hadn't expected! In the absence of air conditioning the traditrional shutters were invaluable in maintaining the house at a cool temperature. Stepping out of the terrace gate you are immediately in the centre of beautiful Haute-de-Cagnes and a short pull up to the Chateau and a delightful square with bars, restaurants and pentanque pitches - lovely and bustly on warm summer evenings. The neartest boulangeries are down the hill in the new town, so a bit of a climb back up with your morning croissants etc. We ate outside on the terrace all the time (except when dining out at one of the excellent restaurants) so took full advantage of the wonderful terrace with its panoramic views. The weather was really hot during our stay but the terrace was cool and shady in the afternoon and evenings and a lovely place to unwind. Access to the property by car is quite tricky, up a very steep and narrow cul-de-sac which becomes pedestrianised before you reach the house. There is no parking, so in order to unload and load we had to just block the road and carry all our luggage up the remainder of the hill to the house. It's also quite difficult to turn the car to get it back down the hill due to the narrowness of the road. This was only really a problem for unloading and loading though, because we left the car in a car park in the new town (2 Euros a day when there are available spaces, and free between 6pm and 9am) and used the free shuttle up to Haut-de-Cagnes and the house - it runs every 15 minutes and is a godsend when you are returning to the house with shopping. There's also a free shuttle down to the beach which goes about every 40 minutes from the new town. We loved our stay in this beautiful house and had the most memorable and enjoyable holiday.

When we entered the gate we were not disappointed. Having seen photos whilst booking we were eager to see for ourselves, then there it was in front of us, just beautiful. We decided there and then to utilise the garden. Previous holidays meant traipsing around in the heat. Not this year, it was books, chilled wine and good food. When it got too hot we pulled the sunbeds under the lovely orange tree for shade. Above the house are some lovely restaurants. The shuttle bus was very handy, especially coming from the supermarket. There is also a shuttle bus to the beach. Finally the house was so lovely and full of character. We had a great holiday.
