About this villa rental
We hope you enjoy your vacation at our newly built home (2016) in Österskär! Right next to the beach, the Archipelago, and Stockholm.
A 10-minute walk from the sandy beach and the beachside restaurant.
Österskär is one of the most exclusive suburbs of Northern Stockholm. The ocean is just a short walk away (300-400 meters) — in three directions. You can take a dip at the beach and at several swimming jetties.
The city of Stockholm is just a short drive away—only 30 minutes by car. You can get there by car or commuter train. A 5-minute walk from the train station. Private parking on the property. If you’re interested, you’re welcome to borrow one of our cars.
Bicycles, toys, and a large professional-grade trampoline are free to use as much as you like.
Our kitchen is well-equipped, and there are two outdoor grills—perfect for the deck. You’ll find several grocery stores in the area—10 minutes by bike, 5 by car, and 5 by train.
Restaurants: a nearby beachfront restaurant, sushi, pizza, Thai food, McDonald’s, good food, etc.
The history of the Österskär area
In 1906, the Roslagsbanan opened Österskär to freight traffic. Among other things, Österskär was home to a small star-shaped and quartz mine, as well as a manor house (Tuna Gard). During the 1900s, plans to develop Österskär into an upscale suburb were put into action, and several large villas were built along the coastline. Inspiration came from Djursholm and Saltsjöbaden. At that time, a beach, the Österskär Havsbadshotell (better known as Tan) was built, and the Österskär steamship pier was completed in 1912. During the 1920s and ’30s, more and more vacation homes were built, and it became a summer retreat for many Stockholmers. The large increase in full-time residents took off in the 1970s, and now more or less the entire peninsula is built up. Österskär has relatively high real estate prices compared to the rest of Sweden and is one of the exclusive suburbs of northern Stockholm.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this delightful location, and our experience couldn't have been more enjoyable. The property is located in the quaint and idyllic Österskär. Stockholm is located at a bit more than an half an hour car ride and also easily accessible by public transport, so we could take day trips to the city. Besides that, we have enjoyed the close proximity to the water and the many islands in the Stockholm archipelago.
As a family of five, including three adult children, we were pleased to find that the house provided ample space and comfort. The house was thoughtfully designed, boasting a blend of traditional Swedish charm and modern amenities. The house came fully equipped with all the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was modern and well-stocked with cooking utensils.
The host was very responsive and accommodating. Their knowledge of the local area and insider tips for nearby attractions and restaurants made our stay all the more enjoyable
Overall, our stay here was wonderful. We fell in love with Sweden during our stay and we hope to return soon.

Dream summer, dream house and we were allowed to enjoy it. The house is very spacious and tastefully decorated. Everything is there, what we needed for an unforgettable holiday. Plenty of space in the house and on the various terraces, invite you to relax.
The residential area is indescribably quiet. To the water there are only short distances, with the existing bicycles we were only a few minutes on the way.
For shopping in Akersberga there are also only a few minutes. The selection in the shopping center is very good.
Excursions to Stockholm, Sigtuna and Vaxholm are highly recommended.
The communication with the owners is excellent. Questions will be answered immediately. We also got great tips, especially on how best to drive to Stockholm, as the direct rail connection from Akersberga was currently not possible because of construction measures.
We will think back to this wonderful holiday for a long time

Beautiful house in a safe and quiet neighborhood decorated with modern design and high end appliances. Plenty of room for our party of four. Very quick response to questions and a very helpful owner. About 40 minutes to Arlanda by car and, in general, convenient to get to anywhere in the Stockholm metropolitan area. Highly recommend this listing to anyone where the location works for them.
