This unit was as described. Nothing luxurious but adequate. We found the beds rather hard and the pillows uncomfortable. The couch and daybed were both uncomfortable to sit on and watch television. Communication was at times slow and confusing given one was dealing with three sisters. We did enjoy the hamacs and the large balcony from which we could observe wonderful sunsets. The beach is nice but there is(was) a band of rocks to cross to make it into deeper water. The kitchen was very well stocked. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

The photos in the listing do not fully express how much this location is on the beach. Sunset closing on the terrace.. fantastic. Nearby services, pastry shop under the house. Recommended for families

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) stayed for a week around New Year's Eve / Day 2015-16. This was our first trip to Martinique and we wanted to experience the more dramatic, less touristic northern part of the island. The location of the apartment was ideal and - especially for the price - it was comfortable and well-equipped for a family. The apartment is owned by 3 sisters (2 in Martinique and 1 in Montreal). We interacted with all 3 at various points; they are all friendly and helpful. We were especially appreciative of their help to find a babysitter for New Year's Eve - no easy task, but they put us in touch with a good friend who worked out marvellously. The apartment is on the 1st floor of a secure building and looks directly onto the Caribbean (with a small garden and dirt road in the foreground). The sea is close enough that you can hear the surf - very relaxing! By far the best part of the apartment is the large terrace, with two sturdy hammocks, a dining table large enough for 6, and retractable awnings that provide shade as needed. The inside is quite basic, but comfortable and clean and with the necessary amenities, including a kitchen stocked with basic supplies, a washing machine in the unit (critical for us!), and a few beach toys. Both bedrooms are equipped with mosquito nets and the "children's room" (with 2 sets of bunkbeds) has a small balcony with a clothes drying rack. The location of the apartment was fantastic. We were far enough away from the developed resort areas to feel as though we were in a more peaceful and authentic area of Martinque, but still close to beaches and sights. There is a small bakery right next door, which we visited every morning. The beach directly across from the apartment is somewhat rocky and not the best beach in the area, but it's a good spot for a quick swim, and there is a small shop 5 minutes by foot that offers parasailing, jetski rentals, etc. There are 2 beach restaurants within a few minutes' walk down the beach: a very casual place specializing in "flammes" (Alsatian flatbreads) and the trendier Petitbonum. St Pierre is a 10-15 minute drive. Some of Martinique's most dramatic sights (Pelee, Anse Couleuvre, Route de la Trace) are within an hour's drive. For the price (<100 euros/night), the apartment is excellent value. If you require luxury, go elsewhere. If you just want a clean, comfortable, well-located base to explore northern Martinique, look no further.
