It was beautiful and well placed for us

The only issue was the frosted glass on the bathroom door as it wasn’t fully frosted but we hung a sheet up and it was fine

Central for everything - birthday celebration on the Saturday night and a nice walk on the Sunday before returning for a lovely lunch!

Staff were very friendly too!

The building is approximately 250-300 years old, we love historical buildings and the fact that the owner has tried to keep it original where possible. The staff were amazing who were friendly and courteous. A big shout out to Richard. We had an issue on arrival with our first room, we were moved to another room, were given complimentary drinks and a discount of our invoice also our room was cold so Richard boosted the heating and left it on whilst we were there for 2 nights. Breakfast was plentiful and nicely cooked. Sedgefield itself, is well worth a walk round. It came across as a slow moving village and the streets were exceptionally clean and adorned with beautiful flower planters. As this is an inn and serves meals and drinks until late at night, not once did we hear any noise whilst staying in our room. Whilst we have written a negative, it has not put us off staying here again.

The rooms do look a little tired but that did not bother us as we felt this added to the charm of an old building. The downside was that the rooms were a little dusty and appeared as though the tops were not done every time the room was vacated. Perhaps management could have a quiet word in the house keepers ears.

Location, character, food, staff.

Cleanliness. Bathroom is not properly cleaned. Dusty surfaces and carpet. But maybe because it’s old and difficult to clean.
