About this house rental

Lovely and characterful charming old-style townhouse in historic old town of Antibes, it is a 5 min. stroll from the provencal market where fresh local produce and crafts can be purchased. The Picasso Museum and the Cathedral are also very close. Within a few minutes stroll there are many restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. The local sandy beaches are an easy walk from the house. Everything you need is within a walk of the house. Watersports are available at the beach - boats can be hired at the marina. You can also join the locals for an evening game of petanque/boules with the provided set. Lovely setting for family or romantic break.
The house is set over 5 floors and has a spiral staircase linking each floor. There are two en-suite bedrooms (1 double bed with bathroom and handheld shower, 1 twin bedroom with 2 twin beds and ensuite shower room) on the first and then second floor each with aircon; a light living-room, with aircon, TV, wi-fi, dining area and a well-equipped kitchen on the 3rd floor. There is a small roof terrace with a sea view to one side and a terracota roof panorama view to the other, which is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine or meal. Juan Les Pins, Cannes, Nice, Monaco and the villages of Biot, Eze and St Paul De Vence are all easily reached for day trips. Please see the video for a virtual tour of the house.
The house is set up as follows: utility area on the ground floor with washing machine, dryer and drying racks; plenty of room for storing hire scooters or hire bicycles. 1st floor 2 twins in this bedroom with aircon and an en-suite bathroom with shower cubicle; 2nd floor double master bedroom, superking bed with aircon and en-suite bathroom with handheld shower and a balcony; 3rd floor living/dining room and kitchen; there are 2 comfortable sofas, coffee table, dining room table and chairs for 4, TV/DVD, Wi-Fi; kitchen is fully equiped with oven, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher and all the utensils you might need!; then lastly a set of open-style stairs to the roof terrace. All staircases are shown in the photos.

The stairs up to the terrace are an 'open-style'with a 3-part handrail which may not be suitable for an older person or toddlers. Please just ask for more info and please see photos.

Road access to rue de la Tourraque can be restricted at certain times of the day during the summer. See local signs for more information. The road can be pedestrian only in the height of summer to encourage a more relaxed town feel. (NB Please note that currently Antibes' pedestrian roads come into effect at 15.30 on Fri/Sat/Sun and holidays, and bollards come up, so your taxi might need to drop you off/collect you at the top of the road, a 2-3 min walk, which is very straightforward and downhill!)

For us, this was a near-ideal location and a first-rate accommodation at a bargain rate. Fun to come home to, the furnishings and kitchen are deluxe, and we felt at home thanks in no small part to our thoughtful and thorough orientation to the property by Valérie, the manager, who personally welcomed us to the townhome and quickly helped us with questions during our visit. The town is a delight and we were located along the seaside edge with the rooftop terrace afforded a good view of the Med as well as a spectacular cocktail hour above the sometimes busy street below. We did somewhat miss having a microwave but the otherwise excellent kitchen included every other element (even some pretty good knives…which are almost always limited to the serrated ones that regular VRBO clients will be all too familiar with!) and as an espresso addict I especially liked the full panoply of coffee-making gear. This is a pretty typical townhome with lots of stairs to navigate, so if mobility is a concern… but we were very happy. I like Mozart in the morning so I always bring my own mobile audio, since audio equipment is not available at most rentals in my experience; and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that during some times of day there can be some ‘extra’ sonic effects from the passing vespas in the street, and there is some renovation in progress nearby which will likely doubtless be completed by the time you read this, but aside from that the location was superb.

We loved our stay here. The little apartment is truly charming and in a great location for walking to everything in Antibes. The little kitchen is well set up for cooking so we enjoyed shopping at the market and other great food shops and making meals. Would love to come back.

Absolutely FABULOUS accommodations in the heart of Old Antibes. We could not have chosen a more PERFECT home away from home. The historic townhouse had every amenity one could ask for ...including two shuckers for the fresh-caught oysters purchased at the market. The rooftop terrace was a BONUS. We had fresh-baked baguettes and pain au chocolat almost every morning on the terrace ...overlooking the breathtaking seascapes. The location was ideal ...a 2-minute walk from Le Marche Provencal, the Picasso Museum, La Gravette beach and many Old Town restaurants & cafes. For our day trips to Nice, Cannes, St. Paul de Vence & Mougins, we were only a 10-minute walk to the train station.La Tourraque is a MOST AMAZING accommodation, which I would recommend for short or long stays ...especially for families.Lastly, Valérie (The Key Lady), was the most accommodating Vrbo host I have ever dealt with. She provided us with a wealth of information about Antibes, both before and during our stay. She met us when we arrived & departed ...and kept in communication with us almost every day ....ensuring we had everything we needed and providing local tips & recommendations. THANK YOU very much, Valérie, and property owner, Alisa for allowing us to rent your beautiful home. The wonderful memories of Antibes will be forever with us. Sincerely,Dom

If you are looking for a place to stay in Antibes in an excellent location where the locals live, look no further. Our family of four spent 9 nights at Alissa’s place and we had a wonderful time. It was our first home rental from VRBO/Homeaway or any other company or person. We were uncomfortable doing it as we have traveled in a lot of places but stayed in hotels. Alissa made it so easy to work with her, answering all questions and concerns that we have. Sure, it is not as luxurious as staying in a hotel but you gain the experience of being entrusted with somebody’s home and have more space to cook simple meals (not spending more time in kitchen than necessary). In Europe, the hotels seldom have quadruple rooms so you are forced to take two rooms if your family is more than 3. Renting Alissa’s place make it more reasonable to stay in a beautiful city like Antibes. We did quick trips to Juan Les Pins, Nice, Monaco, etc. A little bit of a walk to the train station but we enjoyed it. The house has spiral staircase which makes it challenging to bring up suitcases but our teenage son didn’t have a problem bringing it up and down at departure. It was also part of our exercise routine as we ate lots of yummy gelato and macaroons. The excellent food market is very close and the Sunday market where they sell everything is great too. The house has a terrace that overlooks the water but since the steps were challenging for my husband, we didn’t use it. It’s nice to know that you can have breakfast or a drink there if you want to watch the sunset. We highly recommend Alissa’s place but if you have problems with steps or looking for a modern home, this place is not for you. My husband already requested a schedule from Alissa for next year and that’s the recommendation that an owner would want is to have a high percentage of return visitors. Thank you Alissa and thank you Sabrina for checking us in late. Looking forward to next summer.Cheers,Julie & Blair
