About this apartment rental

Apartment Engelhaus is situated in the quiet 'Petit Village' of Zermatt, a 10 minute walk to the centre of Zermatt and with stunning views of the Matterhorn.

Ski and boot room located on the ground floor. There is an elevator to the second floor(press 3 in lift) where the apartment is situated on the left.

This well appointed apartment sleeps 6 in three large en suite double bedrooms that are individually thermostatically controlled. There is a washing machine and dryer in the apartment and a well equipped entrance hall with good storage for ski clothing. The kitchen has dishwasher, oven & hob, microwave, and bread maker. The kitchen island overlooks the open plan dining area and sitting room which is also well equipped. The living area is spacious with a TV + free view, fast wireless internet and SONOS sound dock speakers. There is a wood burning stove (wood can be purchased from Migros) for winter months and 3 large balconies, for the summer months.

Bed linen, towels, and dressing gowns provided with the apartment which is serviced on a weekly basis. It also benefits from its position adjacent to the Alpenlodge Hotel. Breakfast can be provided by the hotel on request.

The condo is beautiful, clean and spacious. Peter, the host, was very responsive. The photos don't do it justice. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and very clean and updated. The condo contains a washer and dryer that worked well for us.There is a large family room with surrounding windows with views of the Matterhorn. Two of the bedrooms have balconies with Matterhorn views as well. There are 3 separate bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms and separate toilet rooms. We were two couples but three couples or a family with children would fit well. The closets are spacious and contain hangers. There was no soap or shampoo, so bring your own. There was a good supply of bath towels. The rental comes with a to/from taxi ride, which is helpful with luggage. The condo is about a half mile uphill walk from Zermatt. It is a good work out, but if you can't walk that far uphill, you will need to get a taxi. I would highly recommend this condo if you are visiting the Zermatt area.

Peter was a wonderful host and the property is everything you could want. The views are magical and the layout of the property is perfect with balconies that overlook Zermatt. When we booked there was nothing mentioned about accessibility other than “building has lift” which is perfectly correct. BUT there are 44 steps that you must navigate to get there after walking up a switchback. The steps weren’t discussed until we received our check in instructions and it was too late to change accommodations. We contacted Peter about the steps but reassured us telling us the hotel would let us use their lift and we would only need to navigate 4 steps. Wonderful but not accurate. The hotel was very understanding and allowed us to use the when they were open which we found to be not very late in the afternoon AND the third floor is a private residence so the lift only took us half way up. We had to pull a wheelchair up and down 44 steps every time we wanted to come or go. To get to the property you will need a second mortgage on your home if you can’t walk. The taxi ride is 50 US to go up the very steep switchback. For capable individuals it is a WONDERFUL option but we had one person in a wheelchair and two with COPD traveling with us and the situation made it impossible to enjoy our stay as we should have.

Engelhaus was an excellent choice for us. The flat was comfortable, spotless and well equipped with everything we needed.The view over Zermatt to the Matterhorn was breathtaking. Peter was an outstanding host and very responsive to any question we had.There is a reason they call it Engelhaus. It is an uphill walk from the city center and all the cable cars and funicular. Taxis are plentiful though, and we love to walk. So not a problem for us. Just something to be aware of,Overall, we would recommend highly for a stay in Zermatt and would not hesitate to rebook if we visit again.

3 rooms all with en suite restrooms. The views of the Matterhorn and the town cannot be better. Peter’s a fantastic host and his explanations were perfect. Only thing is be sure to print taxi voucher before you leave your home town if you do not have printer access prior to landing in Europe.

Loved the apt, great view of the Matterhorn. Easy check in/check out and it was nice to have a bathroom in every bedroom, we also appreciated having both a washer and a dryer. Quiet location on the edge of the village but was a bit of a hike to visit our other friends who were staying close to the Matterhorn express. Will definitely stay there again.

Peter was a great host! Property description and listing accuracy was spot on. Clean, safe, quiet and comfortable. Plenty of room for a small group with individual bedrooms and spacious open areas to gather and enjoy downtime. This was the third consecutive stay in Zermatt, but one of the best since we were able to spend time together vs having separate hotel rooms. Great trip! Thank you Peter!

Our host Peter was informative, helpful, and answered all of our questions in a timely matter. He was VERY helpful with the check in process and instructing us on how to navigate the town efficiently. The house is beautiful, well kept, with amazing views. It was very relaxing with bath robes for relaxation and the kitchen had everything we needed! If I could give them ten stars I would!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The entire apartment was clean, comfortable, and well equipped (quite possibly the best equipped kitchen we’ve encountered in a VRBO). The location was great, close enough to town, but being up the hill a little gave a panoramic view of the Matterhorn with the town in the foreground. The walk down to the ski bus or Sunnegga lift was fine, and we skied back to the apartment most days. It is a short, steep ungroomed trail with a road crossing to get to the back door. We would definitely stay here again!

Peter's apartment is amazing and the view is the best in Zermatt! The living area and two of the bedrooms have views of the Matterhorn. We never got tired of the view. The apartment is well appointed and the kitchen has everything you need! It even has a dishwasher. The entire apartment was very clean. All three bedrooms have full bathrooms. Lots of hot water and great water pressure. Beds are comfortable and linens are in great condition. The location is about a 15 minute walk down to town and less than 8 minutes to Sunnegga Ski Lift. (The view is so worth it!) There are electric taxis that are available for the return trip. We used Christope Taxi and would call them and they picked us up where ever we were in town. Very easy.Peter is great to work with and answered ALL my questions before visiting. He provided a lot of valuable information for the area. He provided recommendations for ski rentals and ski instructors. I was very happy with everything he provided and recommended. Thank you Peter.

This place was absolutely fabulous! Such a beautiful spot - up high with a perfect view of the Matterhorn and the town in the valley. The living room, kitchen and bedrooms were perfect. I was there with my wife and three daughters for 4 nights and we loved it. Check in was so easy and all the taxi drivers know the location if you don't feel like walking (the walk into town is a short 10 minutes and a very pleasant walk). I highly recommend this spot if you're visiting Zermatt!

We absolutely loved this Zermatt apartment! It was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and we really appreciated the fact that there were pantry items available (spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, etc.). Our last place in Rome did not even have salt and pepper so this was a happy discovery. Please note this is a 15 minute hike, mostly uphill, from town. It's a lovely walk but if you plan to pick up groceries, you may want to plan on taxi service. It's doable but not fun with heavy bags. I also really appreciated the deep bath tub to soak after a long day of hiking. Thank you for the wonderful stay, Peter!

Pics dont do Peter's apartment justice. All the rooms have plenty of space, the common area is amazingly cozy. Fireplace is easy to get started. You're up high, over town so the morning and afternoon views are amazing. Nice outdoor space, etc. Peter has done a number of deals with taxi / rentals to make everything super easy and he's got a cheat sheet for great things to do on the mountain and in town. We will likely be return visitors. Checkin and out is super easy.
