Vila Etnica

The setting was wonderful. The housekeeping staff were exceptionally helpful and looked after us when we had to change rooms due to a bad smell in the bathroom.The room was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable.

All day pounding music that seemed to be piped everywhere was extremely irritating. It would have been better to be able to hear the river and the birds. We didn't like to pay for water and another coffee at breakfast. Serving staff seemed to be overworked and stressed, but they did try to help us.

Bed was comfortable, gorgeous view, huge rooms, food very delicious, Service was great. Play area foe kids, plenty of tables at the restaurant to choose from.

O locatie extraordinara, foarte linistita, o bijuterie. Un restaurant de nota 20 chiar la pensiune si cea mai mare camera pe care am vazut-o vreodata. Nota 20 pentru cazare si mancare. Un satuc cu multe chestii tematice locale.

Totul a fost perfect.

The house and my room were really beautiful, well maintained and clean. Quality of the food was also great.

The name Vila 'Etnica' would suggest not only a genuine Moldovan experience when it comes to the interior or the food served there. You would probably also expect a friendly, welcoming and hospitable atmosphere there as well - sadly, it was rather the opposite. As soon as it became apparent that I am a foreigner and do not speak the local language most members of the staff reacted in a very unprofessional way. They were extremely grumpy, unfriendly or just utterly indifferent towards me. The disapproving looks I was given by everyone was very weird. 90% didn't speak a word of English. The first day in the evening it took about half an hour for me to order food simply because no one would come to my table. I approached one lady and asked if I could order something and she genuinely walked pass by me if I'd not exist. I went to the bar and placed the order myself eventually. I made sure to only come back to the Vila Etnica for breakfast and to sleep after that. There were other examples that I won't go into here. So no matter how great the interior of that place is, it is genuinely ruined by unqualified personell. I can understand that it might be unusual for some people to host a single guy from Germany who comes there just wanting to see rural Moldova, especially if you'd never leave your village for most of your life. But to show your guests this kind of unprofessional and rude behavior is unacceptable. It was a big disappointment all together. So, if you're a foreigner and do not speak Russian, I'd advise you not to go to the Vila Etnica.
