About this villa rental
This house used to be our family's hideaway for the summer. Now it is completely renovated for all year use in a modern fashion that makes you feel it is your home away from home. You will enjoy breakfast in the morning or your drink in the evening in the big veranda with the outstanding sea view (thea thalassa). Swimming in the private pool with the breathtaking view will relax your body and senses.
Thea Thalassa (Sea View in greek) villa is located in Kato Galatas, a quite area not far from the center of Chania (4,9 km) and the old town. The village of Kato Galatas (Kato stands for down in greek, here meaning “lower on the hill”) has become in relative terms a suburban area of Chania city, yet still retains a quite and residential atmosphere. The house is built on the lower edge of the hill, right above the sea and can be reached either through the road which connects Chania and Kissamos (westbound) or the National road (marked as E65) which connects all the main cities of the northern coastline of Crete.
Within walking distance from the house there are restaurants by the sea, cafés, fast food pizza, mini and supermarkets.
By the local bus (1,5 euro ticket) in about 20 min or by taxi in 10-15 min (8-10 euro) you may find yourself at the center of Chania to explore the venetian old port.
On the west side of the main road (old national road) are the sandy beaches of Stalos, Agia Marina and Platanias. More crowdy and full of beach bars, restaurants, shops, bars and night clubs. Walk along the coastline to enjoy the sunset and the sea view.
On the east side of the main road (way to the city) are the sandy beaches of Kalamaki (5 min walking from the house), Agi Apostoli and Chrisi Akti which leads you after less than 5 km to the old town of Chania (if you enjoy walking this is a very nice stroll across the coastline!).
In 1 min driving you can find yourself in the National Road (E65) so you have very easy access to the famous beaches of “Falassarna”, “Elafonisi” and “Balos”.
Chania airport is 15 km (about 20-30 min driving).
DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM CHANIA AIRPORT AND SOUDA PORT
Follow the road signs to the highway and towards Kissamos (westbound). Take the Galatas exit, turn right on the stop sign. Keep going straight and follow Kato Galatas sign. You will see the house on your right hand side just before the end of the road (street name and number: Eleftherias 1)
THINGS TO DO
All the water sports in the beaches of Ag.Marina and Platanias.
In Agi Apostoli you may choose the “Golden Fun Park” for bowling and mini golf. And If you are a tennis enthusiast you may visit the “Tennis Club Chania” and possibly arrange for a match.
In wider area (you need a car or taxi) there is “Limnoupolis” the biggest water park of Crete, racetracks for cart driving and a horse riding club (in Varipetro village).

We had a wonderful time at Thea Thalassa. Elena was such a kind and attentive host, and her hospitality (including home made treats on arrival) was exceptional. The house is pristine. It is perfectly located for exploring this beautiful region. We had a wonderful holiday. Thank you, Elena.

We had a fantastic holiday at Thea Thalassa. The communication with Elena was excellent from start to finish and she left us a wonderful welcome pack including homemade cake and pastries. The villa was extremely clean and had everything we needed, the beds were very comfy and the views were amazing. It is very well located for beaches and restaurants, I recommend the Corinna restaurant nearby, lovely meal with an amazing sunset. Easy to get into Charnia either by bus or parking on the outskirts and walking in.

This is an amazing place! The lovely host Eleni was very helpfull and nice and also surpriced us with a cake and wine at arrival. Spendid view and house - the place is even more beautiful than the pictures show! Great pool for adults and kids. Short walk to market places, resturants and beaches. We would love to come back!

Eleni was the perfect host, guiding us on a number of occasions. Nothing was too much trouble and her responses always immediate and more than helpful and her chocolate cake simply the best!
The villa was modern, superbly equipped with staggeringly good views.
The location too proved very convenient for walking to local restaurants. We used 4 and returned to each. All were excellent quality and value.
Chania Old Town and harbour are quite magical. We taxied in half a dozen times to saunter round and eat - again great food at competitive prices in beautiful settings.
Eleni sorted out a hire car for 7 days and we saw more of this magical island.
In summary, a perfect 2 weeks in a perfect villa with a perfect host.
We will return! Xx
