Casina Gidò is a unique emotional experience, immersed in the Salento colors and scents. It is one of those places where the meeting between sun and shadow, between the white of the Lecce stone and the yellow ocher of the carparo come together in a single body, talking about themselves and their history, tickling the traveler to experience them with the touch of hands and above all to walk barefoot, where the past meets the present until it merges into a timeless balance.
Its spacious and shiny structure does not, however, make him lose the idea of living in a refuge surrounded by nature where nothing can harm you ... it is the same nature that takes care of the guest with its luxuriant greenery, and the fresh relaxation of the open-air whirlpool and chromotherapy pool and the emotional shower under a reed.
Crossing the interiors, one observes the care and simplicity in the preservation of the countryside work items and the holiday rites that bring thoughts back to the sound of ancient voices, dialects and superstitions of the past.
All this was the result of a selection of skilled craftsmen from Salento, who forged iron, carved stone and wood using ancient materials and techniques to recover and give a new life to Casina Gidò.
A stylistic, material and chromatic continuity of the exteriors is found with the interiors, where the immense fireplace dominates the central solone and communicates with the typical Salento masonry kitchen where a pilozza dug into a block of Lecce stone is perfectly integrated.
Adjacent there are two cozy double bedrooms made with natural materials such as oak wood of the supporting beam supported by elegant stone barbicans, and elegant drapes of natural fiber allow the light that filters through the windows to pass through.
The presence of a large bathroom allows you to live unforgettable moments of relaxation and harmony, thanks to an enveloping cascade of water immersed in a tub made of Trani stone. The warm color contrasts of the cement tiles decorate the interiors in white lime.
The careful attention to detail that has characterized the eclectic owner of the structure, in order to totally revive the daily life of the peasant life, has strongly wanted the construction of a large wood oven to savor the ancient tradition of sharing of the bread and products of the typical gastronomy of the area using the raw materials collected directly from the vegetable garden.

Beautiful gardens & outdoor space to relax in.Property was beautifully presented & really well equipped. Fruit basket, breakfast items, pasta, snacks & wine provided - very much appreciated. Easy drive to Gallipoli & beautiful beaches. Host Antonio was very easy to communicate with & check in/out was seamless.

Spending one week in October in Antonio's Casina Gidò was a delight. The house in a calm and quiet area (but only a short drive away from a great panetteria, a great pizzeria and supermarkets) with olive trees is cosy and tastfully furnished an decorated. The garden was probably the most beautiful we ever had with a rented house for holidays. The live fence makes it very pivate, in spring it must be a fragrant sea of blossom. The jacuzzi is great, the hammock a great place as well as all the garden furniture. Antonio's hospitality was unbeatable. We have got a welcome basket full with fruit, vegerable, pasta, etc.we could not eat within a week. He was helpful at any time with advices and responded very quickly.
We had a great week at Casina Gidò and if we return to Salento we would book again. Thank's Antonio for leting us stay in your house

È stata la nostra prima volta in Salento e siccome volevamo girarlo tutto abbiamo cercato una casa che fosse in posizione strategica per raggiungere sia la costa adriatica, sia quella jonica ma lontana dalla confusione delle località turistiche. Tra le proposte di Homeaway con le caratteristiche richieste quella che ci ha colpito subito è stata Casina Gidò: carinissima, delle dimensioni giuste per noi (siamo in 3) ed arredata veramente con gusto; fin troppo bella per essere vera! Ed in effetti qualche dubbio c’è venuto anche perchè sul sito non abbiamo trovato recensioni. Abbiamo pertanto contattato il proprietario Antonio per avere qualche garanzia in più (anche se Homeaway da questo punto di vista è veramente affidabile) il quale si è dimostrato subito gentilissimo è disponibilissimo fornendoci tutti i suoi riferimenti personali. E a quel punto abbiamo prenotato per l’ultima settimana di agosto. L’attesa è stata lunga ma ne valeva veramente la pena. Appena arrivati ci ha accolto Antonio con quel senso di ospitalità che soltanto al sud sanno dimostrare.
La casa è proprio come si vede nelle foto, anzi di più. Si perchè Antonio ha una cura maniacale per i particolari e continua ad aggiungere tante piccole chicche che rendono Casina Gidò sempre più bella ed accogliente.
E vogliamo parlare del “kit di benvenuto” che ci ha fatto trovare? Vassoio di specialità locali (taralli, orecchiette, frise,etc.), piatto di frutta e verdura freschissime, frigo con scorta di acqua e bibite; e poi tutto quello che serve in cucina. Veramente non mancava niente. Insomma ci siamo sentiti subito viziati!
Solo per la casa vale la pena farsi un viaggio di 1200 km. E poi il Salento... beh credo che i giudizi in tal senso si sprechino!
Ma forse non era ancora abbastanza e per esagerare Antonio ha fatto entrare in campo mamma Domenica: simpaticissima signora è bravissima cuoca. Ci ha portato un vassoio di pasta fatta in casa ed un barattolo di conserva freschissima preparata con i pomodori dell’orto (già perchè non manca neanche l’orto con una varietà di frutta e verdura a disposizione degli ospiti): BUONISSIMI!!!! Brava Domenica! Se avete tempo seguite un corso di cucina con lei.
Purtroppo una settimana è volata in fretta ed è arrivato il momento di lasciare questo piccolo angolo di paradiso. Che dire: grazie ancora ad Antonio e Domenica, padroni di casa eccezionali con la speranza di poter tornare presto a soggiornare nella splendida Casina Gidò.
