We had the most wonderful stay at Shinseikan. Shigaru and his family were so very kind, hospitable and welcoming. Their ryokan is family run and is so lovely and traditional. The food was exquisite. We had delicious kaiseki style breakfasts and dinners. We had one vegetarian in our group - me - and I was especially well catered for - all of the food was superb. Delicious! The onsen was really lovely. We spent our days skiing and so really appreciated the onsen each night. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay again if we came back to the area. We highly recommend Shinseikan. Thank you Shigaru and family.

My sister is vegan, the proprietors (husband and wife, speaking perfect English) made sure she had full meals that looked (and tasted) better than mine, no dish repeated except the ones she mentioned liking. It's a quiet establishment with everything you need to wholly recuperate in body and soul, and it's being run like one The surrounding area offers plentiful hiking opportunities for every fitness level, beautiful nature

Great traditional place with excellent cozy mood. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. Dinner and breakfast were each a work of art. Would definitely recommend this nice gem of a place.
