Gatsby Hotel Hostel

It was undergoing major refurbishment. It is nice but incomplete.

It was well located, the beds were comfortable the shower was hot. “Cleaned” on a daily basis.

The shower could be cleaned more often, they’d come into the room to “clean” but would only take the rubbish and maybe brush the toilet. The shower had a lot of hairs from previous people staying in the room and the water would stay there while you shower. I’d recommend they clean the bed curtains too as they were a bit dirty. The WiFi was a bit weak. They need more hooks in the rooms as there’s nowhere to hang your shower towel, beach towel and swimmers. It’s not social at all, I think they’re building a restaurant / bar so I assume in the future it could be. But for traveling solo you won’t get the chance to meet people.

The location is superb. There are several shops, markets, restaurants and cafes within a 5 minute walk and it is only a 10 minute walk to the Main Street. Padang Padang Beach, the closest beach, is a little further away, maybe 25 minutes, but you can take a bike and be there within 10 minutes. You can’t ask for much more really. I stayed in a female only dorm and the bed was roomy and comfortable. There were decent sized lockers for all 4 guests plus a plug (with usb ports) beside the bed. The staff were very friendly too and check in/out was very easy. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to others and will definitely stay there again next time I go to Uluwatu.

There is construction happening at the front of the property and whilst the noise wasn’t so much of an issue, what bothered me was the dust. I left my bike outside and it was covered in a thick film of dust which I then had to clean off.

The overall place is definitely in my opinion not like the pictures. My room definitely need some maintenance, walls are falling apart due to the humidity the safety locker inside the wardrobe wasn’t working. The view from the balcony was on the back were I assumed the staff live or hang….
