Guipu Beihai Courtyard Hotel Beijing

Excellent location, very close to Ping'Anli Station (serving routes 4, 6 & 19), which makes everything really accessible. The courtyard is a mix of traditional and modern with a nice detail in the personal closed "patio area", which is awesome on rainy nights. Also there is a nice "cat cafe" you can enjoy in your morning coffee. Kudos to the polite and always smiling staff.

As per Beijing fashion the hotels are a little bit more expensive than in other chinese cities.

Xisi is a good location if you’re doing the tourist sites but want a more authentic and local vibe, and this is exactly that located in a quiet hutong. Quiet but felt extremely safe and nice cafes and food places nearby, although not a late night place by any means. Some nice craft beer places open a little later. The reception facilities were lovely, you can buy delicious coffee and tea and they have a little cat cafe. The vibes in the entryway and main courtyard were very cool.

We were a little disappointed that a lot of the photos show the rooms with outdoor patios in older buildings but when we arrived ours was in a building out back that was pretty modern and felt like a very mainstream holiday inn hotel vibe and didn’t have the unique features shown in many on the pictures on here e.g in the bathrooms/ porch areas- you might as well be anywhere in the modern block. It wasn’t bad by any means, but if you really want that “authentic” hutong feel you might want to check/ request a specific room as we thought we had signed up for/paid for something we didn’t quite get. Especially seeing as the common room shuts at 10 and the local area is quiet and metro stops at 11ish, the chill space in our room wasn’t that nice (we were pretty jealous of the people with porches). Thankfully we were very busy on our trip and pretty much just slept there. Overall would recommend

The rooms are clean, but just big enough for two Europeans. The location in the hutong is nice (if you like this or course) and close to the subway station Ping An Li.

The staff doesn’t speak English and are not really enthusiastic towards the guests. No breakfast is available (although they put a breakfast picture in the hotel description). We were there during the national holidays so many Chinese tourists were staying in the hotel (noise and smokers in the courtyard).
