Exceptional staff and a great location make the difference.

The location can't be beat for experiencing the heart of Rouen and the staff was incredible. The breakfast was good for the most part.

Breakfast was a little difficult for a person with celiac disease. The pillows were not super comfortable (my only real criticism is there should be pillow options like at most hotels of this level).

Great option right in the city centre

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location right in the city centre, has a nice downstairs/reception area for sitting. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Bathroom worked well. Beds were comfy. Gym was good. Internet worked alright. We had a room on the last floor, which came with a small balcony, which was nice for sitting outside and enjoying a tea/coffee.

I personally found the beds a bit too soft, but preferences will vary.

Comfortable base for exploring beautiful Rouen

The location of the hotel is great. I’m so glad we stayed here. The room was nice and quiet too, wasn’t big but that was fine. Bed very comfortable. Hotel slightly lacking in character downstairs, but liked all the info on Flaubert. We didn’t take the breakfast as there so many places to choose from nearby. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

They gave me a room on the ground floor which i asked for, breakfast was lovely and the room was clean and super comfy beds and pillows there was also a kettle in the room but no english tea bags, shower room was nice and clean

We liked our ground floor jr. suite. It was spacious and clean. When we asked for more blankets, one of the staff members was lovely, very caring and warm. She came over to make sure we would be well set up for the night by teaching us how to set the thermostat and by bringing us more blankets. It was great to know that the front desk is open 24/7 in case we needed help with anything.

The front desk reception people were efficient, but cool, very business-like. It would be nice to receive a warm smile and welcome, as if they are glad to have us there. Also, there was a problem with getting our keys to work, even after exchanging them for new ones. However, it was comforting to know that there is someone at the front desk 24/7 who could help us with keys and anything else.

A lovely hotel with parking in perfect location for visiting Rouen.

Excellent location for visiting Rouen and, as we were driving, the hotel also had parking facilities (payable, underground garage). The room was clean as was the bathroom with comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast or eat at the hotel.

If we ever visit the town again, we’ll book a different hotel.

The location

Although we had trouble with the hotel’s account at booking being hacked and my name, telephone number, the dates I wasnhome and the hotel I was visiting bring leaked ( someone whatsapped me ) - the hotel did not actively mention it. We do not know if creditcard info was leaked. We will report the incident now to the Dutch authorities. Our room was not clean. There were dirty marks on the bathroom door. No water in the room - water was kept in the receptionist at the lobby you had to get it from there. Breakfast was not up to standard, no extra plates. Coffee was awful. Very little variation. Food (scrambled eggs, vegetables) were supposed to be on hot olates - food was lukewarm warm.

Location.

Small room, small bathroom. A/c did not work effectively so room was stuffy. Stains on curtains. Standard not reflective of price. Lack of parking options if you have a top box on a car and can't use the car park - despite 2 spaces being available on the forecourt!

If your in a car , don’t go to this hotel

It’s very central but that has its own problems aswell as advantages

The staffs attitude was so poor , they said the car park was full which is fine , to find the place by car is a nightmare and at no point did they tell us that you need a code to get through a barrier, that once through my wife had to move a cafes tables and chairs so I could pass , once you actually find the place , then you have to find the public car park , that is another nightmare! There was spare space at the hotel , when I said could I please leave the car there of the night , he replied “ absolutely not it’s strictly for disabled drivers “ so fair enough , but when I returned from dinner a car was in this space that had disabled sign in the window, I asked at reception and got the reply “ when no disabled people are at the hotel the staff use it !! They were just so unhelpful! And the public car park when you actually find it , it’s so tight !

Beautiful decor on a literary theme, sumptuous breakfast and welcoming staff. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a room with a balcony which gave a view over the city.

The air con was quite noisy and so sleeping was a little difficult.

We were a group of 14 people, check in was excellent, the receptionist was very professional and amiable. The rooms were superb and we were close to restaurants and bars. Good breakfast experience. Thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Location was convenient but not terribly easy to access.

Underground parking accessed by car lift. Lift back to ground floor was out of order so we had to carry our luggage up to reception. No effort made by staff to assist. Staff were efficient but not particularly attentive or friendly.

No one offered to help with luggage. Initial unfriendly / offhand greeting. Shower had very steep step, no grab rail and a surface which was v likely to become slippery on exit from shower. Breakfast was only just acceptable. We had better in a cheaper 3-star hotel in Compiegne.

Lovely 2 night stay in this tucked away gem

Loved this hotel, being themed around Gustav Flaubert made it a touch different and offered a classy insight into one of the more famous former residents of Rouen. The staff were really helpful, the room was lovely and comfy, the breakfast was great too. The only thing I wished could have been provided was decaff options for the tea and coffee. The location is brilliant, a stone's throw from the old market square and then on from there to all the sights. I have already recommended it to someone else.

Excellent hotel in a great location, central but quiet

Fantastic location in the heart of the city so we could walk everywhere. Parking nearby. Staff were very helpful with booking a taxi for us and giving us extra information. Liked the option of a carafe of water in the room rather than plastic bottles.
