Daitokan

The hotel is in the very center of Kusatsu-onsen, within walking distance of the bus stop. The breakfast was a self-service buffet offering a great variety of food. The onsen in the hotel was rather nice, too, plus one can also use the onsen at a sister hotel, Kamenoi (three more baths!), ask at the reception! The interior might look a bit beaten up by the time and not too luxurious, but our suit was very comfortable. The futons and blankets were super cozy. Nice choice of cosmetic goods in the hotel souvenir shop (and I found Kusatsu-themed Gintama merch there, surprisingly, did not expect it at all).

It was very clean and I liked that in the onsen there was a lot of amenities. The yukatas were also a nice touch. Overall we really enjoyed our stay

It was very cold in the room and no way to turn off the basic air vent. Our heating controller was not working either

Good location. Good hot springs.

No Roten- burro.

The water in the Onsen was so good, and the hotel is noticeably cheaper than many others in the town. The food, although a buffet, was good as well. Extensive range of yukata sizes is always a plus too for western travellers.

Unfortunately showing its age. Much of the facilities were run down and old. If you need everything to be sparkling clean and new then this isn't for you. Onsen often get some mould and dirt accumulate, but I think they need to close for a day and do a deep clean.
