Caballito's Mar

We loved it here and would not hesitate to stay again if we were on ometepe. The beds were comfortable and clean, the rooms had fans and aircon, the Wi-Fi was amazing, the food was excellent, we woke up right on the beach and watched stunning sunsets whilst sipping beers. The staff were friendly and helpful, Fernando was welcoming and the tunes in the bar were great. However, other people may find fault in that the rooms were basic with little furniture beyond the beds, the showers were cold and the menu was a bit limited - didn’t bother us, but just an FYI.

Our group of friends had an amazing time at Caballito Mar! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with stunning views that make you want to stay longer. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. Everyone loved it! A hidden gem we’d definitely come back to.

The only thing I didn’t like was the entrance to the place. The road leading there is quite rough and rocky, which makes it a bit challenging to get to, especially if you’re not in a sturdy vehicle. It’s definitely worth the effort once you arrive, but the access could be improved to make the experience even better.

Perfect location right on the water with great food and drinks. It is an hour from the port so you need to rent a motorbike or 4 wheeler. The last little bit is unpaved. Fernando was a gracious host ready with information, food and drinks or organizing a kayak tour.

It was perfect for my son and I. If you are looking for brand new pristine accommodations it might not be for you.
