Uma certa demora para atender-me no chek-in, mas foi um imprevisto, foi resolvido depois.

Location in.the heart of Carnaval and the old city. The charm and pleasantness of Jair and his wife.

Hilton prices. Hostel accommodation. But it was Carnaval in Olinda.and prices always go up. I just feel the price for this simple room in an old house was just far too high, even though the location was right in the centre and the host Jair was charming and very helpful. This would.be a good place to stay off season when the price is more reasonable.

This is the perfect place if you want to experience Olinda and enjoy its vibrant musica and culture. Located in the centre of the centre of old (Colonial era) Olinda, a short walk from the Praça de Carmo (bus stops, outdoor concerts) and half way to the Quatro Cantos which is the focal point of Ollinda Carnival. The owner, Jair is wonderfully friendly and helpful. Breakfast is the Brazilian equivalent of the Full English, comprising fruit, coffee, a hot roll with cheese, fried banana and bolo de rolo (local speciality akin to a Swiss Roll). Considering how central it is the rooms are amaingly quiet. There is a lovely view of the Cathedral from the breakfast room. There are bananas growing in the courtyard, and Jair's boy keeps guinea fowl and quail and tortoises. Another plus are the water coolers, with mineral water, from which you can fill up bottles for hot days and warm nights.

The wi-fi is very slow. Our bedroom window opened into the yard so not much of a view. The facilities are basic, but if you want a fancy hotel you are probably looking in the wrong place.
