The warm personal welcome from Ole, then owner. He was perhaps one of the most friendly and engaging hosts we’ve ever had.
The house and grounds are wonderful. Arriving at dark on an unlit street was a little spooky.

Ole ist ein ausgesprochen freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Mensch. Sei nettes kleines Privatquartier ist einem Hotelaufenthalt unbedingt vorzuziehen.

This was by far our favourite place to stay on a recent trip to Brazil! It’s simply lovely - beautiful attention to detail in terms of decor and the back yard with swimming pool is a wonderful relaxing retreat. Ole provided us with a lot of information about the area, as well as suggestions as to where to eat. We also enjoyed meeting his son, Casper, and interacting with Chico the dog and Mimi the cat. The continental breakfasts were amazing - lots of choice. Ole is the consummate host, so friendly and down-to-earth. We highly recommend El Refugio as the place to stay during your next visit to Iguazu!
