Long Barn Holiday Cottages

The outside area was huge, we could picnic or bbq on the field by the play equipment and the views from there were gorgeous. The pool was a nice temperature, the air in the pool room was warm and it was a clean and bright environment. We went almost every day. The kids played in the barn, there’s no small role play items eg. Pans and plates and pretend food so bring your own couple of bits if needed. Our kids just played with imaginary food though! Huccaby cottage was very well maintained and clean. Shower good temp / pressure ( husband had to duck due to lovely old beams), I was happy and it was so clean and bright. Kids stayed in twin room which they loved, they wanted the bunk beds in the next room but it was a smaller warm room and doesn’t have a wardrobe, just to bear in mind if larger group. The kitchen had been updated since the photos and was very nice with extra fridge in utility and downstairs loo, washing line outside and space for drying inside too. It was just lovely. The place was nice and cool downstairs, I was concerned about overheating during heat wave but thick stone walls kept it cool. Upstairs did get warm but as soon as you figured out when to shut the blinds and when to open the velux windows you could cool it down for the nights sleep. And just jump in the pool to cool down after tea. Location was nice. We did Teignmouth for beach, playground and crabbing, Brixham for walks and crabbing, Broadsands for sandy beach and walk over to Elberry cove which was stunning,Paignton steam train and ferry to pretty Dartmouth, shopping and castle at Totnes and we drove an hour from the cottage to a puzzling place for the kids called Hidden Valley which was worth it and spent the day there. Lots to do. Theres a nice pub 5 minute drive from the cottage too. Immediate lanes are narrow but there’s always a passing place and you’re only on them for 5 minutes before you hit the main roads (if you follow owners directions) so I’d say that’s a win.

There’s no smart tv so plan ahead, we brought a tablet for the kids to watch and the cottage had wifi to connect to. Theres a dvd player, We bought cheap dvds from a charity shop to watch together.

Well equips, spacious cottages with private outdoor space. The play barn, play ground and pool were a big hit with adults and kids alike.

The swimming pool and play barn was really good, there was also outdoor play area and BBQ which we unfortunately didn’t get to use due to the weather, the property was spacious and well equipped.
