The lady who attended to my telephone call was polite, kind, and helpful. Thankfully, we were able to check in late, which was a Godsend, because there were few other options available to us that weren't prohibitively expensive,. We managed to get a decent night's rest, which was the main priority since we were walking the Portuguese route of the Camino de Santiago.
It's expensive for what you get compared to other options. It's basic accommodation at a medium to premium price point. There are no stairs which means one must use a lift in order to access the rooms. The room had no window and therefore there was no ventilation, which meant it had a rather stale smell.

The location was terrific and the multiple aligned businesses were interesting. The staff was extremely helpful and the associated coffee house served good coffee and made an excellent breakfast for us.
I was happy with the property.

There was a problem with Author Guesthouse. The elevator was not working so there was no way to get to our room. The host graciously booked us at a nearby hotel, but it wasn't nearly as nice
