Ella Secret Paradise

Really such an amazing place close to Ella but still a world away. Very nice room with nice balcony overlooking the jungle. The best breakfast we've had in Sri Lanka in 2 weeks, really nice, with amazing fruit juice. And Nadil is super friendly and helpful Very good value for money. Perfect stay in Ella!!

Incredible stay! Could not recommend more. The homestay is tucked away from the busy Ella tourist street and you are surrounded by quiet nature. The room is clean and modern with great views. Nàin and family are the best hosts, he helped with transport, made amazing breakfasts, and provided great local tips. I felt so welcomed and cared for!

Nice place Clean - very clean and lovely. Well looked after Host very attentive and kind - nothing too much trouble Breakfast very good 2 minute Tuk Tuk into town. Host books very easy

The room is one of two, attached to the owners house. It is clean and compact. The bed was comfortable for me, and I slept well.

I can not understand how this and other properties in Sri Lanka are getting such high reviews. Come on people lets help each other out and give honest representations. I was contacted by the owner for a time of arrival, and I informed him 3pm, to which he replied OK. On arrival at 3.10, the room was not ready, and we had to sit outside for 40 minutes while it was prepared. Then we were informed there was a problem with water pressure, and we could only shower with a dribble from the hand-held shower. The owner said the plumber would come at 6 pm. We then walked into Ella (20 mins) for dinner. On our return, the plumber had not been, and the owner said he would come at 7.30 in the morning and could we unlock our door! I told him this would NOT be happening. On top of this, there are gaps around the doors. The bathroom window is filthy, does not shut, and has no insect screen. Consequently, we ended up with a large number of mosquitoes in the room. Luckily, it had a net for the bed. The property is along a 300 metre concrete path, which ends abruptly, and the last 30 metres are down a steep, uneven rocky path of around 30 to 40% gradient. Yes, the owner is friendly, almost too friendly, but this is in no way an excellent or superb property. The owner did give us a 2000 rupees discount.
