The staff was mostly helpful and nice, except for one male person I encountered, who, despite my efforts to tell him I did not speak or understand Spanish, he pursued no other way to communicate with me other than repeating what he wanted me to respond to. After guessing what he might be asking, the conversation was over, thankfully. Though none of the desk or restaurant staff spoke much English, Google Translate was very handy to communicate in most cases, and I had a nice relationship with them. The hotel is very close to the airport, which is why I chose it on this trip, as well as 9 years ago when I last visited Ecuador. The hotel is clean, with a nice outside area with a pool, tables, and chairs with umbrellas, a nice restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as seating in the front lobby. There is a small grocery store across the street for essentials.

The first night, I mentioned to the front desk person that neither of the lights on the sides of the bed for reading worked. he checked them, but did not have a fix for them that night. I mentioned to fix the next day, but they were never fixed while I was there. Also, though I appreciated the water cooler on the floor, I would have appreciated a light to fill my water bottle once the motion detector lights went off. I brought my phone and flashlight to use so as not to make a mess on the floor.
