Charming Lakeside OH Cottage with Lake Views, steps to Park & Shopping

Perfect older cottage for our weekend!

The amenities at the cottage were beyond what is described. A fully stocked kitchen with every appliance you need, two bikes in the backyard, Air conditioning, washing machine, dryer, grill in the backyard…. And, the location is perfect for Lakeside. You can see the lake from the cottage, it’s centered between two playgrounds, easy walk to the auditorium, or Putt putt, or shuffleboard, or the fishing pier.

My parent with mobility issues was able to stay in the cozy first floor bedroom and use the first floor bathroom, and loved the short (unassisted!) walk to the lakefront bench. The toddlers with us loved how close the playground was, and all the games and cozy spots to cuddle. The grownups appreciated that the kitchen had everything we needed (spices, knives, etc). Super relaxing and convenient stay!

This was our 3rd family trip to Lakeside. We had some family come visit us and needed extra space to be able to enjoy each other's company. This home was the perfect fit for us. The house was clean and furnished with comfortable furniture and beds. Very close to the neighborhood amenities and steps away from the water. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and kind updating us with information ahead of time and making sure we had everything we needed. Worth every penny!! The pictures and description on the website match the current condition of the cottage. Owners were very responsive prior to arrival and the cottage was extremely clean upon check-in. The property is steps from the lake and an easy walk to the central park area, shopping and dining. We have been visiting Lakeside for over 40 years and this is one of the nicest cottages. The location of the house to most of the attractions at Lakeside was perfect. Just a 1 minute walk to most things. The house nicely accommodated our two families for the weekend!

140 Jasmine was a great fit for our extended family that included 6 children under 6. The house is located near the lakefront and a very short walk to most all activities at Lakeside. Having a back yard and an enclosed porch for the kids was great. The kitchen was very well equipped. We used the pack n play and baby gate which were both in very good condition. King bed was especially comfortable. Steps to the upstairs are steep, which are not uncommon in cottages, but worth consideration for elderly or young kids. The hosts provided detailed info on the house and community and were very easy to communicate with. Wonderful place to wind up our summer!

We have visited Lakeside for many years In a row until 2004.. with a few recent visits with grandchildren . Now scouting out properties for next year! This is a keeper.. ps.. don’t tell anyone !

Great place with plenty of room. Close to the lake and downtown Lakeside. Clean and comfortable. Owners were very quick to respond to any emails and very nice.

Everything was fine. Only negative was check out time of 10 AM. To get 12 people up dressed fed and everything necessary to get out the door by that time is a bit much especially since you are in vacation mode and hopefully relaxing. 11 or even 12 would be much more reasonable.This is especially true for week end rentals in the fall

Property was very clean and situated very nicely right near the water and a lot of activities(minigolf, shuffleboard, volleyball, basketball, etc). Also close to the 'downtown' area with some quaint restaurants and shops. Had a nice small town feel to it, when life moved a bit slower and was more relaxing. Lakeside is a dry and somewhat religious community(cannot buy alcohol inside the community or at any restaurants), but you can drink on private property, so not a huge deal but FYI. All in all, this listing can be a very good property to stay at depending on what you are looking for. Would be a good place to stay for larger families coming to the area, and is pretty close to fishing charter locations. Would recommend.

Our family spends a week every summer in Lakeside. My husband and I, our two daughters, son-in-law and grandson all enjoyed this comfortable cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking ware (a nice change from some previous cottages) and I really appreciated that! Gas grill was amazing as well. Large dining table in a cozy nook with lots of windows was perfect for family dinners every evening. Beds were comfortable and the entire cottage was clean as could be. Washer and dryer worked great and so handy to throw the wet pools towels in. Location could not be better, just half a block and you are sitting on a bench gazing at the beautiful Lake Erie surf, so calming and peaceful. But also just a short walk to the main park, shuffleboard, splash park and dock. With a busy busy three year old in our party, we were on the go A LOT! This is obviously not just a rental property, it is a beloved family home that is rented out from time to time. We found not one negative thing to say about the accommodations or our stay. Come, enjoy a week of rest, retreat, and refreshment in the Lord!

Thanks for sharing your home with us. We were only in Lakeside for a weekend but the cottage was perfect for our family. Being so close to the Lake and parks, it became the gathering place for family staying in a local hotel. The heater worked well since the first night was chilly. Having both heat and AC is a plus. While we didn't cook much, the kitchen was well stocked with extra china and silverware and the dishwasher worked well. The beds were comfortable with nice quilts and fresh pillows. We were pleased with the service and high quality linens from Lakeside Linen Supply. The steps are steep up to the bedrooms but that's the way I remember my grandmother's house so I wasn't surprised. Coming down with luggage was a bit tricky. We used every gathering area from the front porch and living room to the backyard and enjoyed them all! We'd definitely stay here again.

We recently enjoyed a week at Blue Jasmine. The occasion was a reunion of four widely scattered siblings. The cottage comfortably accommodated five adults. The kitchen was unusually well equipped, the living rooms comfortable, and the handbook provided by the owners unusually helpful. When not walking along the waterfront, admiring the gardens, playing pickleball, or enjoying the new Wellness Center, we spent much of the time on the large front porch—talking, laughing, and marveling at our good fortune to be there together. The weather was perfect. We recommend September visits. There still were permanent residents and others about, but the peacefulness contributed to our pleasure.

Everything was perfect!!

We have been renting houses in various beach communities for the past 25 years, and would describe Blue Jasmine as a typical vintage Lakeside cottage with some modern amenities that reflect what we look for in a rental. Overall we really liked this house, noting that there is one aspect of it that renters should consider before booking (more on that below). The house is a nice mix of vintage features (e.g. wood paneled walls) and updated fixtures. Air conditioning, WiFi, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, on-site parking, decent mattresses on the beds - these are all there. There are plenty of outlets in the common areas for charging phones and tablets, and the WiFi handled multiple devices just fine. Many of the furnishings are newer, unlike some Lakeside rental cottages that are furnished entirely with antiques or outdated furniture. The kitchen is very well equipped, which was essential for us to be able to prepare food for our child who has severe food-allergies. The house is on a dead-end street, so there is very little traffic, making it a great place for kids to ride bikes and generally play out in the street. The front porch was nice for sitting and watching the kids play outside, and it also offered us a place to stash all our beach gear so we didn't track sand throughout the house. There is room in the driveway for a car and a golf cart. The owners were very attentive before and during our stay, which was much appreciated. The caveat is this...before booking, renters should take note of the fact that the bedrooms are all upstairs (except for one twin daybed in the laundry room), and this 100 year-old cottage has very steep and narrow stairs leading to the second floor. If any members of your family have mobility issues, we would not recommend this house because of the difficulty they would have getting up and down. If that's not a concern for you, then great - just be careful on those steps yourself! Things were very clean when we arrived, and the many windows make this a light and bright house. The close proximity to the lakefront is great. We would consider renting this house again, as long as our older parents were not joining us on the trip.

We spent a week at Lakeside in this lovely home. It was perfect for our large family and the location is wonderful - dead end street, steps to Lake Erie, and within walking distance of playgrounds, tennis, donuts, ice cream and so much more fun.
