It was in middle of Campobasso
Insects in the lights in bedroom. Other rooms had tiny showers like cruise ships. Air conditioning did not work

The location was convenient for us since we walked from the bus station. We also were able to walk to the old town and reach the castle by foot. There was a nice grocery store very close so we could get snacks for the hotel room. The room had a refrigerator and was big enough for our needs. I was happy to see they had body lotion in the bathroom. The towels were big, and the complimentary slippers were a nice touch. We also found a pizzeria close by and enjoyed one dinner there. The room was very clean, and we had maid service for upkeep. The breakfast was complimentary and had many choices. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially since we spoke English and needed a little extra help with understanding. The receptionists were always available and willing to answer our questions in English. Even though it wasn't a luxury hotel, we would definitely stay again.
After the first night we found more comfortable pillows in the wardrobe, as the ones on the bed were hard. Since this isn't a real touristy spot for English speakers, it would have been nice to get a map or information in English (or Italian) For example a map to the medieval old town with landmarks and perhaps restaurant/shops nearby. Also, it would have been nice to get information on the spa services in at the hotel at arrival. The website we used was in Italian, and a bit difficult for us to understand. We ate dinner one night in the restaurant. It was in the same room as the breakfast area. I was expecting a more elegant setting. The dinner menu was limited, but we were satisfied with our choices. There was an outdoor patio area with chairs and tables, which we used one sunny day. The outside area was not maintained, but had a lot of potential.

The room was large with a massive balcony at the front of the hotel. It was clean but the whole building is dated and looks somewhat run down. Work is being done so it might improve. The staff were were nice but not all were as forthcoming with information as they might have been. Breakfast was okay. on our sightseeing day, we asked for a taxi to take us to the castle so we could look around and wander back through the town. The receptionist told us that the castle was closed for renovation (and it was raining) but offered to ask his friend the taxi driver to make a tour of the city for us in his taxi. We agreed a price and we were pleasantly surprised at what we were shown; there are some very interesting aspects to Campobasso that we would not have found on our own. It was well worth the time and effort. Google Translate came into its own that day.
We had expected there to be a restaurant open for dinner as it was listed in the most popular facilities on Booking.com but we were informed that it was closed due to work taking place over the summer period. Had I known that before booking I would have looked elsewhere. It was only open for breakfast. The hotel was located further from the centre of the old town than I'd expected so we needed to take taxis to and from the centre. Whilst that is well worth visiting, it cost €10 going in and €15 to come back! It soon adds up.
