About this villa rental

Charming independent villa with private swimming-pool situated in panoramic location, on the hills around the beautiful medieval town of Cortona, approx. 750 m above sea level. This property is surrounded by beautiful woods and offers tastefully furnished interiors and a cosy atmosphere. The location is ideal to enjoy the peace of the Tuscan landscape and at the same time to visit the most important historical cities of the area.
The access to the property is via an unpaved but well-maintained road.
Distances: the small village of Portole with food shops 6 km away, Cortona with al kinds of shops 13 km, Città di Castello and Arezzo approx. 40 km. Lake Trasimeno is about 30 km away.
At guests’ disposal: furnished garden, beautiful irregular-shaped swimming-pool (ca. 7 x 14 m – maximum depth 2,4 m), veranda equipped with tables and chairs for “al fresco” dining, barbecue. Use of a washing-machine and ironing facilities. Parking with the grounds.
Extra Services: Baby bed available on request. Upon request chef service available for nice Tuscan dinners.

Having stayed in the villa in October I would suggest you take warm clothing with you as the property is situated high up in the hills where the temperature drops quite low in the evening. There is a wood burning fire which heats the radiators and once up to heat the house becomes quite cosy. I think as one previous reviewer put it quite succinctly, to just do a weeks shopping and hide away for the rest of the time. I say this as although it’s only approx 13km from Cortona, it takes about 30 mins to get there as the road has a lot of bends. The villa itself has all the amenities and Margherita was a wonderful host albeit our communication was somewhat limited as our Italian is not great and she doesn’t speak much English. The countryside was quite stunning different from other parts of Tuscany, being more rugged. Finally I have to say that the food was quite delicious in each of the restaurants we visited, would well recommend if you’re a foody.

Villa Margherita is located at a beautiful place in the mountains where you can enjoy absolute privacy. The owners are very nice and have a good restaurant right in the next house. The food is delicious and very cheap.

Casa molto bella, un po'scricchiolante il piano superiore, la vista dalla piscina è uno spettacolo, il giardino è in sicurezza... Un po'più di informazioni magari, anche solo che passa il signore del pane 3 volte a settimana, cmq regna la pace e il silenzio...molta privacy... Una pecca, ho portato due gatti, uno molto piccolo, per 2 settimane 200€ un po' caro...la piscina è molto alta, perciò per i bimbi molto piccoli non va bene... Per tutto il resto... meraviglioso [English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] Very nice house, a little creaking on the upper floor, the view from the pool is a spectacle, the garden is safe ... A little more information maybe, even only that the bread van passes 3 times a week, however peace and silence reigns ... a lot of privacy ... A flaw, I brought two cats, one very small, for 2 weeks the extra was 200 € which is a bit expensive ... the pool is very high, so for very small children not good ... For everything else ... wonderful

Villa Margharita with its surroundings are amazing. It is comfortably equipped and people find everything they need for vacation there. The large pool with sun beds provides a pleasant place to relax, from which there is an incredible view of beautiful hills around, breathtaking views of the landscape and the sunset. But also it is the Pareti family, living in the close villa, who gives the place it's charm beauty. They all are very helpful, generous and really nice. They make you feel welcomed in their restaurant, where you can taste so delicious Italian dinner - I so recommend it. There was no problem with anything even though their communication was from 99% in Italian, but at least one learns some new Italian words :) For sure, we'll come back again.

Very nice setting, very friendly tenants, , very quiet, nice pool. Some 15km off Cortona, all you do, you do by car. I expected to be closer to Cortona. But we do recommand Villa Margherita.

If you want to be away from all, relax totally, this is the place to be! There will be no other tourists bothering your peace! The house is nice, cosy. The pool very clean, with an spectacular view over the hills of Tuscany. To get there you need to drive also on a unpaved road. We arrived in our SUV, which was perfect for this place. We loved it.

We booked Villa Margherita for a relaxing week following four days in Rome. And it was a superb week! The location is magnificent and we spent each evening discussing whether the amazing views at sunset from the pool area was better than the night before or whether it surpassed anything we'd ever experienced. The jury is still out but it takes some beating! The low humidity in the mountains meant that heat was not a problem and concerns over the lack of aircon unfounded. In fact the first few day were a bit cool and we used our minimal wardrobe in a layered fashion!! There were just two of us (no kids this time - hurrah!) but if you had young children, you would need to give consideration to the pool area and the pool itself. Fantastic for swimmers and jumpers but with no real shallow area. And the views might be wasted on 3year olds! A helpful, non-intrusive owner (little English but French worked a treat!) A fabulous, cool, relaxing, inspirational week. Highly recommended.

Villa Margherita or Casa Serena, named to the owners daughter, is situated in Bagnole, up in the mountains near Cortona. It can be reached by driving an unpaved road ending up at a small community in an 'agritursimo' setting. The house is surrounded by trees, providing pleasant shadows during hot summer times. Villa Margherita is decorated nicely with all necessary amenities. The view from the house to the area is sensational, panoramic. The pool is large and nice and for exclusive use, it is situated about 30 meter away from the house, and does provide almost, but not full privacy. The pool is kept clean by the housekeeper on a regular basis. The owners of the house are very, very friendly and helpful. The nearest restaurant or supermarket can only be found 20 minutes drive away. We really loved our stay at Casa Margherita. Thank you Serena!

nice place, everything was in the house If you want a place for your self, this is it. Nice pool, it isn't directly near the house, so you can't see the house - pool. The view is excellent!
