Hidden away at the end of a private lane and surrounded by five acres of private gardens and orchards, there's plenty of space to wander, relax with a morning coffee, play with the children, or simply enjoy the peace and wildlife.
One of the things that makes Swallows Cottage truly special is its private heated outdoor swimming pool (available June, July and August). Private heated outdoor pools are exceptionally rare in the Peak District, making this a real treat after a day's walking or sightseeing.
Inside, you'll find a welcoming blend of character and comfort. Cook together in the spacious country kitchen, curl up beside the cosy wood-burning stove, sleep soundly in the antique four-poster bed, and enjoy the luxury of a modern bathroom with underfloor heating. Fast fibre broadband means you can stay connected if you need to—but we think you'll be too busy unwinding.
Step out of the back door and follow footpaths to the picture-perfect village of Tissington, or spend your days exploring some of Derbyshire's best-loved attractions, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Dovedale and Alton Towers. Location was beautiful and easy to find with Google Maps. Close to lots of great things to see and Ashbourne is a beautiful little town 10 min away. Hosts were away for the three days we were there and instructions for some things were insufficient. Book said to put the garbage out on Wednesday but didn’t say where to put it. Weather was sunny and warm but when we opened the pool it was very dirty and full of bugs and we could not figure out how to turn on the vacuum (again no instructions). Finally the beds were very lumpy and in need of replacing. Of the four of us, none of us slept very well there unfortunately. A few more instructions and new beds and it would be a great place.
