Illa Wasi Sacred Valley

Great property, but set far off the road with a very steep and narrow dirt driveway. Tourist vans could not access the driveway. Clean, neat house. Luis (host) is friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Rural setting.

Hard to access. Steep, narrow driveway. Hard to get rides into town. Beds and pillows are firm. Full, cash payment due on arrival (not an issue, just caught off guard).

Great quiet location. Lovely well decorated building, and we had an open fire which we cooked pizza over. The kids loved the football table, and when we had a problem getting the hotel water going, the owner was quick to come and help and fix it!

The place was amazing and had everything we needed. Better than any hotel.

Very interesting construction. Lots of space, inside and out. The property appears to be someone's passion project that has, unfortunately, been neglected over the years.

We are a family of six who have been traveling for almost a year, staying in all kinds of accommodations. We had high hopes for Illa Wasi - that it would be like the pictures and "perfect for families", as advertised, but within minutes of arriving it was obvious we would be disappointed. The location is quite remote from town, and down a very rough, steep sideroad. This might still be alright except that there was NO ONE else on the property (including the host) and the 300m walk from the road is not lit. The host assured us that the area was safe - and it probably was - but we were so isolated (and the host lives an hour away), that it was uncomfortable for us. This impression was made worse by the fact that the grass was uncut and there was junk all over the place. We went in May and the home was very cold. There is a fireplace, but it is poorly designed and fills the building with smoke - not useable. After two days, our host brought two electric heaters for us, which made a slight difference. The beds were reasonably comfortable and there were plenty of blankets. The "hot tub" that is advertised is actually a bathtub with jets. Using the shower, water runs all over the floor of the bathroom. The kitchen is extremely basic. Wifi was not good. It is clear that at one point in the past someone put a ton of effort into making this a special place - the construction, paintings, sculptures, etc. Unfortunately, although there is great potential, in our opinion, it is not being managed or maintained well now.
