Koggala Lake view P&J Villa

The view across the lake from the large terrace was simply stunning. Even with an occasional train or boat passing, it was a very relaxing place to read a book and chill for a few hours. The host family was so sweet and accomodating to our taste in breakfast. We had a few dinners there as well, and especially the curries were super tasty. The room itself was very large, well furnished and comfortable with both a fan and aircon. We found it to be a very relaxing place to unwind for a few days and really felt time flew by, even though we were taking things very slowly.

The host family has two dogs, who at your first encounter can be quite intimidating - so make sure to arrange to be greeted at the gate, and don't just walk in. Once they've had the chance to say a proper hello, they're simply lovely creatures. When you arrive to the villa, make sure to go up the SECOND little road counted from the lake, not the first as Google Maps suggests as that will be a dead end for you.

Incredible location - right by the lake so very quiet and secluded. The host family are all lovely and very welcoming. Booked tuk tuks for me whenever I needed and every single meal I had was absolutely delicious. The room has everything you need - very clean with good water pressure and comfy bed.

The only issue was finding it when I arrived. The address takes satnav to the wrong road - it’s actually just off Hamalanka Nahimi road. Apart from that, everything was perfect!

A peaceful paradise right on the lake. I came here for a mini retreat and it was so perfect. The family are so warm and friendly and took such beautiful care of me. The food was absolutely delicious too! I didn’t leave the place for 2 whole days and had everything I needed in one place.

On first arrival you need to call to be let into the gate because of the dogs. Once you’ve been inside and they know you are a friend the two dogs are very relaxed and friendly. It’s only a very small inconvenience but it’s good to know before you come.

Eine bemühte Familie. Nach der Buchung wurden wir sofort kontaktiert, um organisatorische Dinge zu besprechen. Wir wurden gegen Gebühr am Bahnhof abgeholt und das war hilfreich. Jeder in der Familie spricht ein wenig Englisch und alle wirken freundlich. Das Frühstück war gut. Nur der Kaffee leider nicht. Da wurde am Kaffeepulver gespart. Der Ausblick über den See ist wirklich hervorragend. Und die Terrasse ist groß.

Man muss ein Spray gegen Bettwanzen mitnehmen. Mein Mann wurde 2 mal nachts ziemlich gebissen von Bettwanzen. Deswegen sind wir auch vorher abgereist obwohl die Buchung noch lief und wir alles bis zum Schluss bezahlt haben. Das Abendessen kann ich nicht empfehlen. Der versprochene frisch gebratene Fisch entpuppte sich als stark panierte vertrocknete Fischsticks, die fast kalt serviert wurden, von minderer Qualität. Preislich fand ich das Essen zu teuer. Das Preisniveau von guten Restaurants direkt am Strand. Aber qualitativ kann sich die Unterkunft damit nicht vergleichen. Die Bahnschienen sind ganz in der Nähe und somit hat man eine erhebliche Lärmbelästigung von den regelmäßig fahrenden Zügen. Die bellenden Hunde in der Nachbarschaft sind auch sehr störend. Direkt am Haus gibt es eine Baustelle, die ist aber nicht ganz so laut. Die Haustechnik im Badezimmer brummte laut wenn bei der Nachbarwohnung oder den Vermietern das Wasser genutzt wurde. Man kann die Familie morgens um 6:30 Uhr schon deutlich hören. Dort ist alles offen. Die 2 Hunde auf dem Grundstück sind mit Vorsicht zu betrachten.
