A week in Rio

Excellent stay at Residencial Sausalito for our family of four. Large, comfortable room on the 9th floor (902) with big sliding windows. The residence is separate from the hotel, but breakfast at the hotel was generous and satisfying. Perfect location near Copacabana Beach, surrounded by bars and restaurants, and a 24-hour bar across the street serving ice-cold beer. Tiago at reception was extremely helpful.

The first room we received 605 looked into the other buildings and wasn't great, the draws weren't able to open. We went down to reception and Tiago changed our room for us - thank you

I would never stay in this place again

You have to check-in in a different hotel in the corner, the receptionist was very rude and CHARGED us to keep the bags while we waited just 1 hour to do the check in. I travel a lot for work and not always arrive in the exact time to check-in and I have n e v e r been charged for this.

It was very near the beach for a very good cost. The facilities even humble were excelent.

The walls were a bit too thin, so you could hear the corridor pretty well. It wasnt that big of a problem though cause it wasn't a busy area.

Hotel, not apartments, will be a hit when construction is over

The property is an annex to the Real Palace Hotel (it is round the corner, 40 meters away). it’s under construction. I reserved an apartment with a double bed but I got a hotel room with a double bed and two single beds. It was brand new and clean. It had a small fridge and a spacious closet. It was a bit noisy in the morning due to construction but it was less crowded than the hotel. Breakfast was very good (served at the hotel).

The cleaning stuff seemed to have no experience. I asked for a blanket and they left it on my bed but the following day, the made the bed without the blanket and without the spread that I had the first night (it was carefully folded and kept in the closet). The place was supposed to have a view but I could only see the roofs of the old buildings on the block. The first morning the maid came to clean the room at 7:45am. When I asked her to come later she made me signed a form declining the cleaning. I signed but added “I want the room cleaned but later.” Fortunately another maid (Cris, a lovely and hard working girl) came back later and cleaned and tidied the room. Another thing I did not like was that they asked me to pay R60.00 upon checking out. They could not explain what was missing when I thought I had paid everything when I checked in.

Not the most comfortable stay

The location was good, and breakfast was fantastic. Also nice that you can use the hotel’s facilities.

The room needs completely refurbishing, it doesn’t look like the pictures, everything is much older than shown. The air con unit sounds like a jet plane taking off so we couldn’t use it in the night.

AC had mould on it and was rattling needing a clean. Building is old and neighbours were noisy. Beds were new and clean but I did not had much sleep for some reason.

The residence itself is a part of the Real Palace Hotel just around the corner 20m. Everything you need is there: tour desk, excellent breakfast etc. The Copacabana beach is just 100m away, Ipanema beach 45 min. walk. Great location! Frendly staff, especially Mario. Wi-fi good. Clean and safe!

The whole place looks somewhat tired and the walls need re-painting. No foreign news TV channel!!!

Good place to stay in Rio, strongly recommend for families and singles.

The room is big and bright, have AC, tv, refrigerator and 2 king size beds. The bathroom is big, have hairdryer and super strong shower. Location is good,very close to eating places, beach and underground. Breakfasts fresh with a big choice of fruits, warm dishes and different kinds of bread and cakes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Feels safe here.

Breakfast place feels little too small and sometimes overcrowds. If you smoke, there is no balcony or outside garden. Bar in the lobby is closed. Pool and the gym are quiet small.

The location was good, close to the beach and supermarkets. The breakfast was the highlight, it was quite good, but the restaurant where they serve breakfast was too small.

The staff didn't speak any English, or spoke a few words. The room was too warm, the AC didn't cool down the room. The walls were dirty. The shower was either too warm or too cold. The sink of the shower was not working properly. The room was not really cleaned, although everyday somebody was coming to clean. They were leaving an incorrect amount of towels/glasses in the room, compared to the number of people who were staying. We got stuck in the elevator once. The key to the room and the building were not working properly, we had to ask to change them a couple of times.

Staff was great! Everyone very friendly and great location. Breakfast has an excellent variety of food.

The room was not very clean and a awful smell at the hallway. The dishes at the breakfast were dirty and many other people were complaining about the dirty plates, cups and silverware.

Not bad for the price and location if you don't mind the look of the building

Able to use the small pool & gym next door. Super close to Copacabana and area seem safe. Free good breakfast. Good powerful shower.

Building and the corridor looks tired and disappointing. But room was modern looking and clean. Loud AC in the room. Bed can be firmer but not too bad.
