Loch Lomond Finnich Cottages

Not being able to use the hot tubs on the first night as their was a blood moon and deerr near the car park

Fabulous location with lovely views and surroundings. High quality cottage, very clean with real attention to detail and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Nothing.

What's not to love? Incredible location, a short drive from Loch Lomond and Drymen, but beautifully quiet and removed from the stress of daily life. From the drive into the estate to the standard of renovation, the cottages are a 10/10. Got a taste of how the other half live, with the beautiful main house next door (it has featured in films and TV shows). Our host, Martin, was fantastic. Available when we needed him but not intrusive. Getting the log burners for the hot tubs going for us before returning in the evening was such a treat - thank you! We were in Birch cottage, which had two two-people hot tubs. Perfect view up to the mountains and made the holiday (we're not used to such luxury and it was our first time using hot tubs; our kids were delighted!). As keen hikers the grounds were fantastic - there's a lovely evening walk up to a nearby hill through the estate forest that is well worth it. Beautiful views and lots of deer. We'd love to come back and do it in the snow. Follow the sign next to the old ruins at the end of the entrance road, before you turn into the car park. There's also a playing field for games and a barn in the courtyard with table tennis, pool table, sofas. Would make a great group-stay location. There is so much nearby too - countless lochs to paddle and walk along, lovely villages, country parks, mountains etc. Falloch Falls and the falls and red squirrel hide at Queen Elizabeth Park are a must. And Finnich Glen is nearby, although with just three nights we didn't get there this time. It was a dream holiday cottage and I hope we get to visit again.

Minor gripe, but we struggled a little for food storage. There are two fridges but not much usable cupboard space. The cupboards around sink all smelt strongly of damp, so weren't suitable for food. Maybe needs some dehumidifiers under there?

Uncomfortable and tired sofa. Poor position near TV. Door handle too near the frame, caught hand in it. Grass not mowed in back garden, weeds in the front.
