About this cottage rental

Failte Ireland Welcome Standard awarded: This cosy 2 bedroomed thatched cottage with a wood burner and king size beds is situated in Mullaghduff (between the villages of Annagry and Kincasslagh) on the Wild Atlantic Way (R259), ideally located for exploring and enjoying the many attractions of Donegal including Slieve League (the highest sea cliffs in Europe - three times higher than the Cliffs of Moher), Glencomcille Folk Village, Errigal Mountain and the Poisoned Glen, Dunlewey Lakeside Centre, Errigal Pet Farm, Glenveagh National Park/Castle, Glebe House and Gallery, Ards Forest Park, Fanad Lighthouse, Doagh Famine Village and Malin Head.

The county of Donegal is known for it's stunning wild and rugged coastline (the longest coastline of all counties on the Wild Atlantic Way): fishing ports, cliffs, islands, coves, piers, harbours, lighthouses and miles of clean, sandy beaches. Activities available locally include deepsea fishing, kayaking, canoeing, diving, surfing, sea stack ascents, sightseeing/heritage cruisies, and island tours (Arranmore, Gola, Owey and Tory).

Or venture inland to the mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, boglands, fields and forestry, outstanding natural beauty, attracting tourists for river and lake fishing, golf, horse riding, walking, hiking, bird watching, cycling (cycle hire is available in Dungloe), rock-climbing, abseiling and winter mountaineering.

Our nearest beaches are Carrickfinn Blue Flag beach and Mullaghderg beach, both less than 3km away. The nearest town is Dungloe, approximately a 20 minute drive away, with good supermarkets, bars and restaurants and souvenir shops. Convenience stores are available in Kincasslagh and Annagry, both just 3km away and open 7 days a week.

The main bedroom has a king size bed, bedside tables, a double wardrobe and small dresser. The en-suite has a shower, wc and basin.

Please note that Mullaghduff Thatched Cottage is currently waiting for a re-thatch, we don't have a date for completion of this work. The original thatch has been removed, the galvanised under-roof has been painted and insulated while we wait for the thatcher to schedule us in when the materials have been sourced. We are operating as normal and feedback from regular and new guests has been great. A photo of the cottage as it currently looks has been uploaded.

We loved this house - the location, the house. Everything was so authentic, like the older thatched homes you can see at museums. Maxine was a wonderful hostess, and we would absolutely go back!
