The host was very responsive and helpful. He contacted us before our arrival and provided plenty of useful information about the accommodation, as well as recommendations and helpful tips for exploring Kyoto. The accommodation is a small, traditional two-story house located in a quiet residential neighborhood with similar houses, away from the main tourist areas. It is furnished with older-style furniture and is not in the best condition, but that is also part of its charm. Staying in a traditional Kyoto home like this was a unique and authentic experience and gave our visit to Kyoto a special touch.

The best thing about this location is that its tucked into a Japanese neighborhood and you really feel immersed in the culture. The place itself is traditional style with tatami mats and futon beds but still has modern amenities like ac/heating, toilet/bidet and shower/tub. Most things are within walking distance like conveince stores, restaurants, and even a 24 hour laundry service making this area ideal for resting and recouping after being out and about in Kyoto. You can uber eats stuff as well. Its a small walk from the local subway line but that line will take you to most of the highlights in Kyoto and even down to Uji. The owner is the highlight of this place however. He is very kind and helpful and even goes as far as to create itineraries for you if its your first time to show you more than just the tourist stuff that you can experience. Depending on the season he will even recommend special events going on so you can really experience Japanese culture and make it worth your while. He also knows some good local food spots especially for Tonkatsu. Make sure to download Whatsapp as that's how he communicates with you and he will meet up with you as well when you check in.
