This hotel is a hidden gem. The lounge area has the original stained glass from 1900.the rooms are of the period which you'd expect. They are also a good size, have tea / coffee facilities and ensuite was also a good size and with a bath which you dont always get in hotels. Breakfast was many cereal, toast, juices and cooked choices and very good. Only reason didnt give full marks is bed wasnt comfortable but we were told all bed mattresses are in process of being changed.
Bed was uncomfortable and I woke with bad back but Manager says its being addressed.

The breakfast was enjoyable, a good selection,everything fresh and tasty. The hotel is beautifully situated in the twisty lanes between Whitby and Sandsend.
Breakfast was a little chaotic on the second morning, we waited ages to be served, no menu on the table, then when people were served who had arrived after us and I tried to query this with an excuse me, the waiter was clearly annoyed .Beautiful buildi
