Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel

The building is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Very short drive to the tourist part of Whitby.

Reception wasn’t open on arrival. Just a sign that said check in at bar. We had to wander through the long corridor with a heavy bag to find the bar to check in. We decided to make alternate plans for our evening meal as we didn’t know what was on the menu. I was told on enquiring before traveling that it changes daily. As we didn’t know what was available we went somewhere just down the road that we knew we wanted something of the menu. Would have been nice to stay at the hotel and have a drink with my meal instead of driving. Breakfast was ok but more choices would on the menu would be nice and I didn’t like the taste of the sausage. Honestly didn’t even taste like meat. Toaster didn’t work initially had to be unplugged from extension and then plugged directly into wall. Staff seemed a little run off their feet.

Lots of history and the building and grounds were fairly well kept.

The building and in particular our room were clean, but in need of a revamp and a lick of paint. The carpet in the room was wearing quite a lot and there were damn marks near the windows. It’s in a lovely location, but be mindful it is a fairly arduous walk to the beach!

Fantastic property with wonderful period features. Great Bar and lounge areas. Staff member Michael was very engaging and a delight.
