Bergsteiger-Zimmer Pension Obermair

Host was very helpful and even enabled us to heat some pasta and soup. Also enjoyable swimming pool and table tennis table.

Breakfast for sure made up for all the other inconviniences. It was very delicious, with homemade cakes and fresh berries. Wide variety and good filter coffee. Location is very convenient for via ferrata enthusiasts, as it´s only about 10min walk from the local via ferrata park. Our room in the Bergsteiger (cheaper) part of the hotel was renovated and looked much better than on the pictures here.

However, the critical reviews here aren´t wrong. The Bergsteiger part of hotel is located near a busy local petrol station/pub and half of the rooms are located at street level, so if you open up your windows its very noisy when your window is facing this side of the street. Ours wasn´t but there was renovation going on in the hotel that started before 7am and the workers were really loud. They were placing some construction stuff on the walls of our room and window from the outside and shouting and smashing things early in the morning. I stuck my head out the window where I was literally eye to eye with them, asked them to keep more quite but it didn´t help. It was impossible to sleep with closed windows because those rooms are so warm. And it is only May. I cannot imagine sleeping there in the middle of summer. I can only guess that once the renovation is done, the rooms that are not facing the local pub can sleep with windows open and it would be fine. However i read all the negative reviews before booking, so we were kind of prepared to not sleep so well. Honestly we chose it for the price and breakfast reviews. For 2 nights it was managable, be I wouldn´t want to stay longer. There comes a time when you need to sleep.. especially when you do a lot of "bergsteigern" - as the rooms are classified for :)

The breakfast was excellent. There was a good selection of fresh fruits and bread. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. I had an accident in the mountains and my clothes were badly bloodstained but the hotel did an excellent job laundering them. Convenient location close to the town centre.

My room (no 2) was on the ground floor facing the car park with some outdoor sheeting just outside. I opened the window because it was hot at night and for a while there was a lot of loud conversation outside. There was no traffic noise though. The room and bathroom were quite small.

It's in Mayrhofen.. Great breakfast!

We get a room in the separate building next to the petrol station. Over there there's a bar in front of your windows.. The room itself was worn and you felt humidity. There were issues with closing the windows, stuff helped with one, another..is nailed to the frame ;)
