The food was exceptional and your staff as well. We liked our spacious room but the terrace needs an umbrella for shade. It would be nice to have an ice maker tray in the freezer compartment of the fridge.
Definitely each room/terrace needs a sun umbrella. We could not sit outside in the afternoon - too hot and too sunny. And when coming from the beach towards the pool, it is necessary to have a hose or something to wash off the sand on the feet.

We liked the friendly staff and the great cooking. The food was good
The lodges are a bit old and not all windows can be closed. In summer probably no one will complain but in winter it can get very cold which is not very comfortable.

Location is beautiful, beside the beach with amazing wildlife and sunsets
Think there is a pumping issue as very low water pressure resulting in the shower being a mere trickle which wasn’t great

The location with a beautiful succulent garden, sand dunes and an incredible beach of long white sand completely deserted. Chef Nico was almost a privet chef - so accommodating and so accomplished in his excellent cooking. The suite was large and clean with a super comfy bed. Sleeping next to the ocean with the sound of the surf was amazing. The access to the beach via the wooden walkway mad3 it so accessible. The birdlife, humpback whales, dolphins and seals were unforgettable.
We made a mistake and came along the direct coastal road which was slow and bumpy. It would have been great if the property had let us know that the best route was via the N7

The rooms were very nice, confortable. The staff very accommodating and super friendly. Great to have a fire in the room
Need some kind of suitcase stand in the room. Their is also a bit of road noise because it's very quiet you hear the cars coming by even though it's set back from the road.

The location is great and rooms well positioned. Great service and good food.
There were plumbing issues- water not draining in the basin and shower and a foul smell sometimes when flushing the toilet.

Breakfast was excellent, especially the fluffy omelette. The serving staff very helpful and well informed. The nice warm electric blanket on the bed, very appropriate.
The early traffic on the road bit loud on a Saturday morning.

We had the most amazing stay at Draaihoek Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in warm "Weskus" hospitality that made us feel instantly at home. The staff were friendly, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming - nothing was too much trouble.
The food was absolutely outstanding - every meal felt lovingly prepared and beautifully presented, a real treat for the senses. We also appreciated the roaring log fires in the evenings, adding that perfect touch of cosiness to the crisp coastal air.
The private beach walks were soul-refreshing, with endless stretches of sand and the soothing sound of waves as our only company. The lodge and surrounds are impeccably clean, tranquil, and breathtakingly beautiful. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and serenity takes over.
Draaihoek Lodge is a slice of coastal heaven. We left feeling completely recharged, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended to anyone seeking peace, natural beauty, and warm-hearted service.

A peaceful and wild escape near the Atlantic
I had a wonderful stay at Draaihoek Lodge & Restaurant. The staff were incredibly kind, professional, and welcoming. The chef is truly talented — dinner and breakfast were both excellent, with impeccable service throughout.
My room was very spacious, perfectly comfortable, and set in a peaceful natural environment. The lodge is nestled just behind the dunes — you can’t see the ocean from the rooms, but a short walk through the dunes (where you might spot springboks!) brings you to a stunning viewpoint over the Atlantic. From there, I saw dolphins, seabirds, and even whales. The beach itself is wild, full of charm and birdlife.
This is a hidden gem, ideal for a quiet getaway or a family retreat when the weather gets warmer. Highly recommended!

A little distance from Elands Bay but very pleased that we booked half-board. Good quality food with plenty of choice. Staff extremely welcoming & friendly.
Very quiet when we visited at the end of the season and enjoyed the peace & tranquility. Had swimming pool to myself! Short walk over the sand dunes to private beach where we watched the sun go down.
Worth a drive to Elands Bay itself to view the rock art & delightful heritage museum near the beach. Good cafe for lunch there, too.

Great hospitality and the staff were very friendly. The lodge is also located close to the beach and has a swimming pool for guests to use. The food was also wonderful and great value for money.
We loved the indoor fireplace feature
The lodge also hosts a herd of Springboks, which was an added surprise.
The bathroom may require some maintenance with regards to the drain and toilet odours.

Amazing location, right on the beach, with wild springbok herd wandering skittishly around. Beautiful deserted beach, lovely sunset and very helpful staff with excellent menu and winelist. We decided to stay an extra night so we could stay in the room (it was raining), reading our books with a log fire burning. So nice! Thank you to the staff for being so welcoming and accommodating.
What could have been better? Nothing really - this is a place to get away from it all and walk along the beach, which is simply amazing. Don't expect much from Elands Bay town, there is not much there - and unfortunately the restaurant that is often recommended was closed. But we did have lunch in the Elands Bay Hotel, and despite its run down exterior we had an excellent lunch with mussels and crayfish. So we had no complaints, it did what it said on the tin, and was a lovely place to escape to. Would have happily spent more days doing very little!

Remote, private and isolated from the crowds.
Unpleasant to sit on the veranda in the afternoon, no cover from the sun. The doors is facing west where the sun sets.
A cover over the veranda would add mich value.

Friendly, comfortable, very close to the sea on an undeveloped part of the coast
Location adjoining Elands Bay road, WiFi very patchy and intermittent

The setting is beautiful and tranquil, and the facilities are more than what we expected.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was delicious 😋
