Jambo Mara Safari Lodge

Reception & catering staff very professional & provided us with an excellent welcome. We were upgraded to the VIP Glass cabins, 3 very spacious rooms full of natural light, each cabin very clean & freshly decorated. Each on-suite bathroom fitted with new washing machine although had to dry our laundry on the railings outside our cabins which was ok. Our booking included all inclusive meals; restaurant was very well serviced; very clean, great variety of food.

Evidently glass cabins were recently completed as all the cement buckets and building materials were chucked under each cabin - such a shame as it was instantly visible which spoilt the overall feel and ambiance outside our cabins. Each cabin could be improved with a mini fridge, an iron to prepare clothes etc Unfortunately less vegan options for most of us vegans/vegetarians, who cannot eat diary or regular milk & cheese etc. Need more vegan options ie vegan cheese etc. Packed lunch for our day out in reserve safari was disappointing & limited particularly for vegetarians/vegans; an apple, an orange a roll with butter & muffin (made with diary). Even the regular lunch packs could be improved; a quarter chicken leg wrapped in foil was not easy to eat, slices would be easier to put in a sandwich - was not enjoyable & unappealing.

Liked the glass house, bed was comfortable and rooms were clean.

We chose this hotel in the Mara because it had a gym. We were very disappointed that every single piece of equipment except for 1 treadmill was broken/out of order and the room itself was at lease 90 degrees when we tried to work out between safaris.

We had the best stay in one of their VIP room with huge space, comfy bed, massive living room, relaxing balcony in front of wide garden nature view which we really desire, a total escape, peace quite and away from city noises. They have nice variety of food in the restaurant, all inclusive and the staff were all very friendly, accommodating and kind. They are very helpful which we really appreciate. On the other hand, we had to leave one day early before our booking ends due to miscommunication and misunderstanding with Daniel in regards with our game drive. However, we had the best, unforgettable and awesome game drive. We saw the big 5 in the same day which according to them was very uncommon, so we feel so grateful and so so blessed beyond measure. On the top of that, it’s my first time to do a game drive and seeing all 5 in one day was truly special and memorable. We saw buffalo, leopard, elephant, rhino and lions. Lions - while they mating. (Can you believe that, I have video)😍 Overall, it was the best experience we have at Kenya, spending Christmas at Nairobi and New year at Masaai Mara. We also able to rent a car and we had the road trip in our life that we will never forget. Hard to explain but the experience was top-tier! It was wild, crazy, super duper intense, roller coaster of emotions, we got stuck in the mad so many times, rains pours on and off along the way. Had to drive in the cliff with only two wheels on because 3 big trucks was in the middle of a one way road without drivers on it. Our car was totally moving sideways, which i honestly seen only in the movie. It was midnight and for first timers - we are not familiar with the road. It was really extreme experience! It takes a lot of courage for a one hell of adventure!💪 My husband was the best driver in the whole world! 🤪😍 A get away to cherish for a lifetime. Thank you Kenya 🇰🇪❤️

Excellent location, good food, friendly staff

No hot water provision in the resort. It gets very cold in masai Mara specially in the morning when the temperature is around 10 degrees Centigrade. The resort does not have hot water in the shower, also the staff did not arrange for hot water which was inconvenient to us.
