The history! The location was fantastic the history of the buildings was interesting to hear. The decor is fitting and appropriate to the historical background and the rooms were well furnished and comfortable

Big room with comfortable bed.
Beautiful view from the main terrace having breakfast over the reflection pool and the vineyards
Willy is great and staff was very friendly
No air condition in the room, just a fan. When we were there, it had 41 degrees (mid of March).
No real dinner offering
There was a big group of >20 people having a party which was quite disturbing
No chairs or table in front of the room (little terrace)

Authentic cape farm from the 1800s - lots of history, interesting architecture, very different to most accomodation in SA. We stayed in 'Villa' at the rear of the property - a large living area with a comfortable sitting area and adequate kitchen for basics. Bedrooms were large with comfortable beds and each had their own shower room. The solid brick buildings were cool despite the warm weather. Dewald, the custodian of the property showed us around at length and was very keen to help.
Our family of 4 were split with some not liking the older, rustic style of the property. We were told that the property had very recently changed hands and was in the process of undergoing extensive improvement. Several things in the Villa were not ok (loose washbasin, poorly sealing French doors, brown watet) but we were told that these were all to be rectified shortly. The swimming pool was dark and unappealing. The breakfast was basic and we had to go out for an additional breakfast instead. Reasons for optimism for future guests but not great for us, hence our low rating - in its current state it wasn't worth what we paid. Also this is advertised as Stellenbosh but take care as the town is some 35 minutes drive away. The location is actually closer to the northern suburbs.
