Amaya Lake Dambulla

The individual cabins are set in a large property thus allowing for privacy. The room was large with a separate lounge area. It was clean and well furnished and maintained. The room contained all necessary amenities. I found the bed comfortable. There were two swimming pools. There was a good selection for the breakfast buffet. All in all the three nights I spent at Amaya Lake were very pleasant and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Our room was too far and had to depend on a buggy

We had a very enjoyable stay at Amaya Lake. The weather was surprisingly pleasant despite it being around 34°C and humid outside. The resort has a beautiful natural setting, excellent food with plenty of choices, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay.

Only downside was our first night, when there was a function with loud music that continued late into the night and started again early the next morning. This wasn't what we expected from a peaceful nature resort. After we raised the issue, the hotel acknowledged the inconvenience and kindly offered us spa vouchers, which we appreciated. As the resort is surrounded by a lake and forest, wildlife is to be expected. However, we did find a small snake in one of our rooms early on the morning before our departure, which was a little unsettling.

The room furnishings are outdated, the towels, bedsheets, and pillows are showing signs of wear, and there is a lack of toiletry amenities such as toothbrushes.
