The location was an absolute 10/10 — truly unbeatable. Posto 10 in Ipanema beach was just a 5–7 minute walk away. The staff were outstanding, warm, and genuinely friendly. Special thanks to Fernando and Lucio (I hope I’m spelling their names correctly), who went above and beyond to accommodate us in every possible way.

The sheets are in desperate need of replacement. What were once white now have a greyish tone, especially the duvets, which makes them feel old and, therefore, dirty. The mattresses were also not very comfortable for me, though I recognize that mattress preference is quite personal. In some parts of the hotel, when you turn on the AC, a damp “wet dog” smell eventually appears — likely due to poor ventilation, though I’m no expert. The breakfast was another disappointment. I’m not referring to the variety of choices, since I understand that local breakfast options are part of the adventure of traveling and experiencing new cultures. What bothered me was the quality: stale bread and pancakes, watery eggs, and a fruit salad made with fruit that was clearly on the verge of spoiling. These issues, in my opinion, could easily be resolved with simple fixes — fresher bread, more toasters and presses, and a bit more attention to freshness overall.

This hotel is in a very good location but best suited to business travellers rather than tourists.

The Hotel was in exactly the location I needed to be able to get to the historic section of town easily and also to be able to get to the Lagoa de Rodrigo Freitas and the beaches after work The breakfast was fine if a little limited in choices.

The hotel needs a bit of a makeover - there were only two lifts which was not enough to cope with the traffic for 70+ rooms, Also, the lifts were in particular were in poor shape, noisy and bumpy and there was only one which functioned reliably, The hotel definitely needs a makeover.

The staff was amazing and they have been incredibly helpful with us: they let us use the chairs and ombrella for the beach even on our last day, and they let us use the gym's shower before leaving in the afternoon!

I stayed here with my 14 year old daughter. It was a lovely hotel close to everything. Fantastic Breakfast!!! Great Location. Nice Room. Marvelous View from 11th floor on the lake and Christo. Cool Roofterrace. Friendly Staff. I believe the hotel lets you borrow chairs and a beach umbrella for free. I did not take the opportunity because of the 'cold' weather but it's a nice gesture.

On Friday night the hotel's bar on the sidewalk had some loud music playing. It got really noisy in our room as if we had our windows open and were located immediately next to it but in fact we were staying on the 11th floor! I didn't mind so much though but I can imagine that people do.

We book for a two bed room and they gave us a single large bed The door of the bathroom clapped with the toilet And there was a leak in the toilet

The rooms need renovation, the windows are not good for protecting the sound from outside. There is a bar on the ground floor and high volume music is on all night. I had difficulty in sleeping because of the noise.

Good Hotel

The breakfast was excellent! They have a very nice buffet breakfast with hot food, pastries, and fruit. The hotel is a short walk to a very nice beach. It was easy getting an Uber from the hotel.

At night, the restaurant downstairs becomes a club. Even on the 6th floor we could still hear the music downstairs in the evening. There was also construction going on while we were there, sometimes after 10pm at night.

Great location, room was very comfortable and clean, close to the beach and restaurants/bars in Ipanema. we had a great stay and recommend Mar Ipanema Hotel.

Late check-out wasn’t allowed by the staff, even though there were rooms available for booking.

They are under construction and just told us 1 day before the check in, so we are sharing elevator with works and they just elevators.
