The host and the staff were amazing. friendly and very wellcoming.

We stayed here for a special birthday celebration, and a show at the Depot Theater (our new favorite theater). The inn is stunning, retaining many elements from its 1808 origins. Quirky, creative, colorful, clean, FUN room with a super soft bed, book library (you can take books you like!) and a record player with many albums to play. Easy check in, and an amazing restaurant downstairs; this is truly a one stop destination hotel! Great location, and just a wonderful stay. I bought us each the Deer's Head Inn tee shirts-so cute to have them in the room for sale, and the owners were nice enough to mail us one in the color and size we wanted that wasn't in stock.
I mentioned it was my husband's birthday celebration on the reservation, but no special efforts were made, which would have been great. I asked in advance if the restaurant did anything special for birthday and was told that he could get a free dessert. We mentioned it was his birthday several times to the server, including when we ordered dessert, and though she wished him happy birthday, it was still charged to the bill. It's a small thing but would have been really nice.

Bedroom, bathroom and sitting area upstairs were very nice but rest of property was empty and didn’t realise that bar and restaurant would be closed on Tuesday which was disappointing as nowhere else nearby to go.
