Lovely Cosy Riad conveniently located in Imlil. Super accommodating staff - very helpful to organise treks and transfers. Fresh juice great! Views and location great.
Internet unstable and slow. Challenging to arrange onwards hotel bookings.

Dar Imlil's position near the centre of Imlil is perfect. As it stands on a hill, there are excellent views all around. Our room had two balconies, giving sunshine and views at all times of the day. We really appreciated the underfloor heating as we went in early January, when temperatures at night were below freezing. There was plenty of hot water, and we had a kettle and a fridge in the room. The staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful. I loved the hammam, too. The food was particularly tasty, especially the tagines. My muleteer, Mohammed, was wonderful and helped me a great deal on our trip up to Tizi Tamatert, as I had injured my knee just before I came to Imlil.
I would have appreciated a non-slip mat to put in the bath whilst I was showering, as I felt unsafe standing up in the bath. Also, a curtain would prevent water from the shower going on to the bathroom floor. But I loved the hot water and the underfloor heating.

Well heated in Winter time for the superior suites
Chimney smoke smell in room. Chimney on terrace below should be higher to avoid that problem

This was our family's first two nights in Morocco and Dar Imlil made a huge, delightful impression. Our rooms were large and ornately furnished, with rose petals and towel sculptures on the bed, almond biscuits and tea-making supplies at the ready. The dar seems like it has been there a while and welcomed many visitors, but it is not shabby. It's not polished either, but sits at that ideal point of warmth and authenticity. The grounds are beautiful and quixotic, like the building itself, with well-tended plants everywhere. The views are beautiful, and there are quite a few places to lounge, read a book or chat. My sense is that it is one of the largest hotels in town, and its private outdoor spaces are a big part of the charm. It's a lovely place just to be. The staff were a big part of the experience too. Wonderfully friendly and provided responsive service with smiles at breakfast and dinner. We took their traditional dinners and were treated to delicious salads, tajines, and fruit plates. English is spoken well enough. Dar Imlil is sited is near the commercial center of the town and on the side of the river. Go downhill and you're in town. Go uphill and you're hiking toward Aroumd. I recommend hiring a guide and going to Aroumd, both to better appreciate life in the High Atlas and for the views.
The air conditioner in one room didn't produce enough heat even after someone came to look at it.
