Sunset View House

Sadly, we will not be recommending the Sunset View House. It is in a beautiful location and has a nice floor plan, but the home itself is poorly maintained and only marginally clean. Here is our experience: It took us over an hour to get in. The electronic lockbox is tired; the numbers don’t often register on the device. We were directed to two different key boxes: one had no keys in it; the other had 3 keys, none of which worked on the entry door. Getting the windows to open and close easily was a huge task, due to the dirt and debris in the channels. The grill is filthy and unusable. The mat it sits on is covered in grease and grime. The dishwasher is old, stained on the inside, and doesn’t clean the dishes. We hand washed the dishes. The upstairs walk-in shower needs a very deep cleaning. The grout appears to be stained and, perhaps, moldy. The downstairs tub apparently once had a rough coating to prevent slipping. It has worn off. There are no grab bars. One of us has some mobility issues and showering in that tub was frightening for her. We were awakened at 1am one morning by all of the smoke alarms going off. We attempted to remove the batteries, but most of the alarms were wired into the house. One was filled with water, which cascaded onto us and the floor. The alarms continued to blare. We called the fire department. Mr. Post, the firefighter, directed us to evacuate the building, arrived about 20 minutes later, and spent about 45 minutes checking for fire and gas leaks. There was a leak under the upstairs bathroom sink. I called the Vacasa number in the morning to report the problem, and was told the message would be passed along to the local team. Since we were seeing more water on the floor and door frames, we waited for the call, which didn’t come through until about 2:30 pm. I will say that the plumber got there quickly and fixed the leak by a little after 3:30. By then, we changed our plans for the day.

Lots of space, excellent location just outside of the village.

Refrigerator loud, dishwasher would stop after a few minutes, taking a few tries before it would complete a load.

great location, beautiful setting, quaint farm house on hill overlooking town. Deer, bald eagles, etc. very comfortable home.

needs to upgrade shower, the porch is amazing but needs some love, dishwasher needs some work.

Great location on the island with view of the water, close to Lopez Island village. Spacious and comfortable. Large kitchen made it easy to cook and arrange items for our group, as did being well-stocked with dishes and cookware. Beautiful setting with a resident deer that seemed to stay in the large yard. Wi-Fi worked well. Appreciated having washer and dryer available. Two rooms/1 bathroom on the first floor made the property more accessible for those who can’t negotiate stairs well. 3rd bedroom/1 bath is upstairs.

While house was well stocked and lovely, the propane was out when we arrived so we had to call for refill and we were not able to bbq our steaks the first night we arrived. This was promptly taken care of the next day by the property manager. Note that property requests no shoes inside, so bring slippers. Also, upstairs bedroom has a slanted ceiling and is difficult for anyone taller than 5’ to navigate on one side of the bed.

Open & spacious. Comfortable and homey.. Well provisioned.. Close to town. Very scenic with island and water beauty.

Location was perfect. House was comfortable.

House could have been cleaner. Was promised a "new" toaster oven. Hand rail on back steps would be a help to older guests.
