Candlewood Suites - Newark South - University Area by IHG

The property and my room was very clean. The gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was so professional and very polite. My stay was so pleasant and peaceful. I’ll definitely be staying there again 🙂

I will say the only thing that I didn’t like was it wasn’t a lot of parking available

We stayed there because I participated in the Lums Pond Triathlon. THe location was perfect for that. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the room was clean! IT was perfect!

This is not Candlewood's fault, but it wasn't great that some Red Roof patrons parked and were going through Candlewood's parking area.

No breakfast offered at this facility. Had to leave premises for breakfast.

I needed an accessible room due to mobility issues. The first room we were given on the first floor was wonderful! The reason I had to leave was my inability to step into the tub. I needed a walk-in shower. WE were then given a room on the fifth floor. It was horrible compared to the first room - like night and day! The room was half the size of the first one. There was a hole in the wall with no door for a closet - the first room had a big closet with doors. You didn't even have room to hang your clothes without touching the dirty floor. The shower was the worst. The small rail that supposedly kept the water in was rusted and pulled away from the frame. The shower head was placed for a person in a seated position. If you moved the shower head, water squirted everywhere. The floor was filled with water by the time I got out; the bath mat was drenched and so was the floor. The microwave was so difficult to use, we had to get help. This room was a big disappointment.
