Vintage Victorian home but maintenance was going on taking away from the stay

Property was just sold and needs alot of work

This place needs a complete overhaul. From the grounds to the rooms it’s beyond rundown. Don’t be fooled by the photos. They were taken at a much earlier time.

Our guest room had a padlock on the door instead of a door lock. So strange. Everything about this place is beyond rundown down.

Old Victorian house and the staff was great

The communication of the place. No one will answer or return your phone call. Lots of excuses from the owner of the property.

Everything about my stay was delightful. Loved the ambience. Staff were very friendly. The breakfasts were healthy and homemade.

Location was good.

It was disappointing. Rather than finding a charming old home turned into a B&B, we found an old run-down building in need of repair and refurbishing. In addition, we were early for breakfast, and even though it was ready, and the cook did not appear to be overly busy, she could not accommodate us by providing us with a plate of food that was, according to her, ready to be served. We just left.

We loved the historical charm of this bed and breakfast and were enchanted by the sweet town of Ferndale. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was farm fresh, homemade, and delicious!

Incredible property, amazing room, awesome breakfast and wonderful staff! Will definitely be staying here again!!!

The bathroom in our room was very small. The door didn't want to stay closed. Staircase has very narrow treads, so climbing the stairs requires some care. Beautiful house, nice dining room, and the breakfast was delicious. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

Very charming town. The property is an old Victorian house with antique furniture. Our room was comfortable. We moved things around to suit our view of the tv. Bathroom was very cute and functional.

I would have like some heat in the parlor and dining room. It was absolutely frigid. The lighting in the bedroom is not functional for reading or doing anything on your computer. The lighting was a little better in the parlor but it was very cold. Colder inside than outside! The breakfast was nothing like what described by previous guests. Yogurt parfait was the high point. Cold hard boiled eggs, strange little chicken sausages and sort of tough pancakes. I think even though it’s under new management it could have been better.

Staff was very friendly and kind. They provided an excellent breakfast and the room was small, but comfortable and clean.

Not a big deal, but would have loved if coffee was available all morning and not just during breakfast.

The breakfast was wonderful! The staff was great, very accommodating and delightful. The other guests were cheerful and we had some good conversations. The room was very nice, and the bed was comfortable, with lots of pillows. We had our own veranda, but didn't use it due to the damp weather. The bathroom was lovely, and they included two fluffy robes.

We did have an ant problem, but nothing that disturbed our stay. The staff apologized, and cleaned up our bag that had been invaded. Also, we would have liked more light in the room, was hard to read with the dim lamps. The bed was comfy, but the mattress topper was a bit narrow, and we felt a bit like we were going to teeter off. The TV was positioned to the side of the bed, so you would have to crane your neck to see it. We pulled the two arm chairs to the other side of the bed and watched a movie from there.

A beautiful authentic historic house in a very quaint town. We had a very lovely welcome from the owner, and felt very much at home. We had a wonderful roll top bath in our room and enjoyed a leisurely soak before walking the short distance into town. The decor was beautifully done in traditional Victorian style. And garden was stunning . In town only the Mexican restaurant was open, and that was a fine as the food was delicious and not too expensive. Nicole cooked us a wonderful breakfast and gave us and the other guests plenty of info about local highlights.

Historical B&B located on the Main Street and just minutes from local restaurants. Great period furnishing and a very tasty included breakfast.

I am allergic to cats and there was definitely a cat on the premises. I wish they would include this fact on the listing for those of use who suffer from allergies.

Amazing hospitality, cozy room walkable right into town. Delicious treats baked daily for guests! Highly recommend for anyone looking to visit Ferndale!

The breakfast was good.

The property is very dated. Everything seemed old and not fresh. It took about 5 minutes to get hot water in the bathroom, the room heated by a portable heater, no counter room in the bath, just a sink.

Beautiful home and grounds to enjoy. Rooms either have garden or courtyard view. Lots of places to sit and relax both inside and outside on the property. Lots of extras like books, games, DVDs, ect. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Snacks, coffee, tea and breakfast included.

The cleaning service uses straight bleach. The room we booked was lovely, but smelled strongly of bleach from the bathroom. The bathroom windows did not open and the smell was throughout the room. Unfortunately, bleach gives me migraines quickly. Luckly, there was another room available that was larger and only smelled of bleach in the bathroom. We were able to open the bathroom window in the new room. I was able to stay in that room without smelling the bleach and limited use of the bathroom. Staff told me next time to let them know in advance and they could accommodate me with no bleach. Paula was very kind to change our room to one that worked for me and I really appreciate her doing so. I love the Shaw House and would recommend a stay there to anyone visiting Ferndale.
