The rooms are no-frills since we were staying in a student residency but honestly, it was perfect, specifically for the first night when we have arrived in Nanaimo. The person at the reception was very friendly and helpful. The night was silent and calm, exactly what we needed for our first night on the Island.
Again, the rooms are no-frills and if you want to put it negatively, you might say utilitarian. It didn't bother us - however, what we didn't expect was that we were sleeping in two separate rooms connected by a bathroom (private and only usable by the two of us). No biggie though!

We like the apartment with a kitchen and a living room for our group of 7 to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The kitchen is not well equipped. We could find only one small pot and a small pan. The upper bunk bed does not have a rail. Did not feel safe to sleep at the top.

If you ever went to university and spent time in campus accomodation....this could be a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
The staff that I spoke to were friendly and helpful.
A $250 CAD key deposit is outrageous. Regardless of it being released back onto the card a few days later; I haven't been asked for that amount in nice hotels before, let alone a dorm room on-campus.
There aren't any signs or instructions to find the main office to check-in. After driving around for a little while I parked and walked to the closest building that I could see. After establishing that the accomodation office wasn't there (and mercifully finding a washroom), I came back 3 minutes later to find a parking ticket on my car. (Lucky I hadn't desperately ducked into the nearby foliage.... the parking officer was probably hiding in there).
When I found the office shortly afterwards, they took care of the ticket immediately for me which was nice. Maybe security are trying to revenue-raise while students are on holidays... (another moment of nostalgia reminiscing on parking as a student).
I hope the accomodation money goes towards something nice for students like more comfortable mattresses.
