Facility amenities fit our needs.
Facility needs updating. Generally worn furnishings & not particularly clean in common areas (hallway carpets needed vacuuming, elevators not clean , breakfast area worn). Room was clean but baseboards in bathroom very worn & unattractive, wall covering discolored & buckling
Although fairly clean I found hairs in various places in bathroom.

Location was important and the availability of the rooms we needed.
We experienced a power outage right as we arrived, so that was annoying. It took a couple hours to resolve. Additionally, I was given a room that was not cleaned and had to rewtiurn to the desk for a room change. The attendant dodged take care of that tho.

The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The breakfast had a good selection.
We were a bit disappointed the first night since the main reason we chose this hotel was for the hot tub and the first night it wasn't working. There was an out of order sign and a cone blocking it off. The 2nd night the sign was gone but the cone was still there. We did ask the evening staff and she told us she thought it was OK to use if the sign was gone and it was hot, which it was. So we did get to use it for a bit on that night.

The breakfast was good with variety of hot and cold items. We liked the cleanliness and the time window for breakfast was quite good. The room was great and furniture was comfortable. Staff was very friendly.
The phone in the room was not working. More than one fruit type would be good. Oatmeal was little watery.

Check in and check out was easy. There was a friendly young man when we arrived who brought us a cart to help with our luggage. There was another nice young man who provided us with tissues when we saw him in the lobby even though he was not responsible for our room.I love that there is coffee always available in the lobby.
Some staff were not so friendly. The curtain was severely ripped in our room, the shelves were off the track next to the microwave, one of the shower doors stuck and we had to fix the toilet ourselves three times (water wouldn't load in tank). Paid more than the room was worth this time.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, EVER! My family of 6 arrives and we check in and get a room on the 3rd floor... get up there doors not locked so we open it and fridge was pulled out so I found a cleaner in the hallway and asked if the room was just not ready yet and he said he's not sure he'd consult the front desk and get back to me. He comes back up and says we need to go back to the lobby to get a new room. So we then get a room on the 2nd floor walk in and it's dirty there's hair on the sofa, it smells like marijuana and there's a broken down blunt in the toilet. So my husband goes down to the lobby and the nice gentleman there says oh my gosh one moment while I go to the back and yell. And he did just that, comes back to the front and says I'm personally going to check on a room for you. So he sends us to the room next door after checking it. The room smells a lot better than the last one and the cleanliness is a bit better. Only complaint in this room is the shoe print on the ceiling, hair on sheets on one of the beds,floors poorly vacuumed and bathtub dirty. So it is now night time and we go down and ask for towels for morning around 11pm and the rude lady at the front desk tells us she cannot give us 6 towels due to being low on them and that we can get 3. We have a reservation for 6 so where does that make any sense? I will never stay here again, nor would I ever recommend this place to ANYONE. I would love for someone from corporate to reach out to me ASAP. This place needs an inspection from the health department and employees clearly need training.

Because of a power failure the night before, breakfast was very limited. There was not really anything there that we could eat.
We arrived at 10 pm. At the desk the clerk said, "Didn't you get a text from the hotel?" We had not. There had been a power failure some hours before that was not resolved yet. There was no AC in most of the hotel. We were told that the cancellation fee could be waived if we wanted to find another hotel. Our 3rd floor room, after we walked up the stairs, was 77F. The fan did work, but no AC. In the morning, it was 82, and very humid. No breakfast items available that we could eat. We asked about some kind of adjustment to the rate and were told it was not available. So we paid $220+ for a very disappointing, unsatisfactory stay. We used to stay at Hampton Inns all the time. It seems to us now that they are in decline. There should have been a plan for dealing with this kind of problem, certainly by the time breakfast was going to be served. btw, the pool and fitness room were not open either. I think we should have been offered some kind of voucher for a free stay at any Hampton Inn.

The layout of the handicapped room was well designed, with lots of room to move in the wheelchair.
Our overall "poor" rating was not the direct fault of the Hampton Inn, but mother nature. A major storm that evening knocked out the electricity. ...and the elevators. So with my wife having limited mobility, thus using a wheelchair, being
in a 2nd floor handicapped room with NO elevator service when we need to be at the UofM Med Center early the next morning presented a real challenge. Missed not having breakfast available - not even coffee.
It took awhile, but I got my wife down the two flights of stairs and we got to the Med Ctr. on time.
We recognize it was a unique situation, but will insist on a first floor handicapped room in the future.

The first room that was given to us had wifi that didn't work the tv. The receptionist tried to help us, but after 3 phonecards we could not find a reconnect button and she couldn't leave the front desk
It would have been very helpful if a maintenance person could have been available to come to our room to help. There was no one available to do that, so we were assigned to a different room. That was good and the tv worked.

The bed wasn't very supportive and the springs in the box spring were very squeaky and noisy whenever I turned or moved slightly.

The breakfast was outstanding and Angel was absolutely amazing! He was very attentive and friendly. The staff was always there to help and very kind. The location was very easy to get downtown in a very short amount of time. The pool was the highlight for the 6, 8, and 9 year old we traveled with. We used the laundry and it was quick and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay.

It was clean with a great breakfast
The noise in our room was awful. Approx. 10:15 a very loud banging started. Initially we thought it was children running in the room above us. It continued for a very long time. To the point the windows were rattling.
I wanted to speak to the front desk clerk about this when I checked out. There were 2 additional people also waiting. She was nowhere to be found. After a half hour, possibly more, I asked the gentleman cleaning the breakfast area if he could locate her. This man should be commended. He apologized profusely for her absence and helped me and the two additional people.
