Beds were comfortable, ac kept the room cool. Breakfast was good.
Showers drained too slow and held water. Shower walls had someone else’s hair on it. Floors felt grimy.
Front desk staff said my room number aloud for anyone to hear. I asked her not too, because I was traveling with children, and she argued that there was no one to hear. I explained there could be anyone walking down the hall around the corners, and that I was just trying to keep my family safe. She continued to argue and alluded that she could keep us safe. I asked for empathy and she rolled her eyes.

Super easy to find. Right off the highway, so that’s a win!
Felt a bit as though I was looked at differently, but I’m hoping that’s because a lot of black men don’t frequent Ames like that(there for my friend’s dad’s funeral).
