Close to the beach and centrally located in La Jolla but away from the tourist zone.

Door latch was a little loose and you have to request your room to be cleaned. Small inconveniences when you consider the overall condition and location

Very good. everything I needed for the night

The room was comfortable. Nothing fancy for sure. It was clean and the location was great for my needs. It was inexpensive and the front desk gal was extremely helpful and sweet. The bed was wonderful! Nice little fridge and coffee maker.

I had a hard time figuring the out the TV. It needed to load or something. In the end it turned on and was satisfactory. The blinds were pretty busted up, but I didn't care at all.

Excellent affordable hotel in LA Jolla

Excellent value and location. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean. We appreciated the coffee station and free oatmeal packets. Would definitely stay again.

Great location for staying just outside of the town.

The property is located just outside of the main hub of La Jolla. Super easy to access and in a quiet and comfortable neighborhood. The facilities in our room are a little worn out and you can tell. Sadly the A/C didn’t work in our room as well.

Rooms were ok but could use some touch ups where paint or wood chips are showing. Electronics need to checked before people stay in the rooms.

A Gem in La Jolla!

It is a 1950s property that was renovated and updated for today's traveler. The rooms have a modern feel and the bed was very comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

It’s not a big hotel but it’s so close to the beach by walking.

Our stay was impeccable and we give it 5 stars!

The staff was absolutely incredible. As soon as we arrived in CA, we got a text that we were a Guest of the Day which included free parking and early check-in. I’ve never experienced that and it was just awesome! When we checked-in, they were extremely professional and knowledgeable. We highly recommend staying here. About a 5 minute walk to the beach and it’s a gorgeous walk, too. Steps away from awesome restaurants. We couldn’t be more impressed. Thank you!

We overall had a good stay but might find another place to stay if we come back to La Jolla.

The room was nicely decorated with ac, lots of shampoo conditioner and body wash, easy to get to, overall pretty clean

Walls are paper thin, could hear all neighbors all the time. The water pressure was basically non existent and took forever to was our baby bottles and hair in the shower

Deluxe room wasn’t very deluxe. Approved for an early check in that didn’t happen (on my wedding day), so that was disappointing but we weren’t charged so that’s nice. The hot tub could use a good clean. Water is very green

Being from Arizona, any time you can get to San Diego in the summer is a relief. I wouldn't stay anywhere but The Shoal. Location, value, friendly staff & cleanliness always exceed expectations.

Very nice place to stay while visiting San Diego.

5 minute walk to the beach was great. Room was clean but only "maid" up every other day. EVERYONE at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. All of the staff there was wonderful. Hot water was always available with no wait.

We will definitely be back! Everything was so neat and clean and the environment was very welcoming.

The Shoal is located perfectly in between so many restaurants, bars and not to mention just about a block from the beach. We will definitely be back! This is amazing place to stay with children. We also loved that the pool was handicap accessible.
