In a world where service seems to be declining as prices climb, the Mountain View Grand felt genuinely invested in the guest experience. They were clearly well-staffed—and seemingly paid well, because everyone was committed and engaged. From the front desk to breakfast to front porch service and even the s'mores and the farm, staff were everywhere, and they were proactive, kind, and patient. The hotel itself is beautiful and comfortable. The lobby is lovely, the front porch has tons of seating, and while the rooms are a little dated, that's part of the charm—I wouldn't want a fully modern renovation. Everything was clean and comfortable. We tried both the bed and the sofa bed (traveling with kids), and both were great. They even provided a crib for my daughter. At $500 a night, I expected something nice, but this went beyond expectations. I've paid the same elsewhere for places with half the amenities and staff. A really clean, comfortable experience with lots of activities to choose from.
A few small things kept it from being perfect. Our in-room phone didn't work to reach the front desk, which was a challenge the first night when we needed to confirm they were bringing a crib. I'm not sure it ever got fixed. It also would have helped to know upfront that the breakfast buffet only charges for kids over five. When I asked, the front desk told me it was $18 per child, and with two small children I was nervous about the cost—but we ended up not being charged for their food at all. Finally, I believe the s'mores used to be included. If there's a set time when everyone does s'mores, why not fold it into the experience? It seems like such a low cost that I'm curious why they changed it, or whether it was just a way to trim expenses and make a little profit. That part felt a bit odd.

Nice location and views of the mountains.
We had one of the worst dining experiences at the resorts main restaurant. They seemed to be vastly understaffed. It took 20 mins for a server to come to our table, another 20 minutes to get drinks and another hour to get our food which came out cold. Highly disappointed and decided it was best not to eat on site.
