It’s conveniently located in Helen. You can walk just about anywhere within minutes. Betty’s is across the street. Perfect for coffee and breakfast sandwiches every morning. Plus anything else you might need.
There are nice chairs to sit outside on the hill looking down at all the people and cars. You can hear music playing from different restaurants. The church bells ringing is nice too.
We’ve stayed at the Heidi many times. It used to be personal and had friendly staff on site. It’s all virtual so the personal touch is completely gone. You text “refresh” or “DND”. That’s all the communication you have.
My biggest problem was that the rooms were dirty. The first room had a ton of dust, crumbs and change in the floor. The bathroom didn’t look like it was cleaned at all. There was hair on the floor, tub and it was just dirty. The floor was dirty. The tub had a rubber mat that you could see all of the scum , dirt, and hair trapped underneath it. I called and they gave us another room. Room #2 wasn’t any better. She tried to give me a third room but it only had one bed. She said housekeeping would come and clean the first room for us. We left for a couple hours. I bought cleaning supplies just in case. When we returned. It looked like the change on the floor was the only thing picked up. The bathroom was untouched. I cleaned the floor, tub and toilet. We thought about leaving, but I didn’t have a front desk or anyone to discuss anything with. Or show any staff what I had to do. So we made the best of it. The first time we stayed here, I remember how clean it was and how personal. We stayed every year until the kids were too big to all stay in one room. We decided to come back for spring break. I regret not reading the reviews first. There are similar stories with the same complaints. So read the reviews. They are accurate.
