The photos and descriptions of the charming apartment are very accurate. The floor to ceiling windows lookout over a beautiful park and the apartment is very spacious.
It’s a good location for walking the city to historical sites and restaurants and shopping.
The host ombretta is a charming woman who has lived there all her life and made us feel very welcome. She made the whole visit special.

Met all expectations and beyond.
Met all expectations and beyond.
We were met on arrival by Ombretta the apartment owner and made very welcome. Ombretta explained the essential workings in the apartment, and showed us where the supermarket was. Ferrara is the perfect place to stay and well located to travel by train to Bolognia, Florence, Venice etc, and return in the evening to the peace of Ferrara. The history, it's residents, restaurants and shopping are delightful. The apartment is close to the centre and if you wish to use a bicycle as a mode of transport it is the perfect place to do so. The apartment is in a very old building and on the top floor, so be prepared for the climb, but very well worth it. The apartment is well
equipped and very spacious. I look forward to a return visit. Transport direct from Bolognia Airport to Ferrara Castle is available and regular. Very good value.

The apartment, which is in a beautiful palace, is bright, spacious, very tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped.
The location is ideal for walking around Ferrara and visiting other cities in this beautiful region.
There are shops, restaurants and cafes/gelaterie on the doorstep and Ombretta gave us a lot of advise and ideas on where to eat and what to visit.
She was also very accommodating and friendly.
For us the fact that we could park in such a central location was a bonus and the garage was the old horse stable - fascinating!
Ombretta also offer her guests the free use of push bikes to go around town like a real Ferrarese.
We loved our stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful historical site
Beautiful historical site
We were enchanted with the site especially the gorgeous courtyard. The apartment was clean and in good condition. Good for a family with one or two children - one room is actually the loft area upstairs so is better for adults or older children as there is no door or separating wall. Lovely grassy track across the street, clearly an ancient arena, and great gelato and pizza right downstairs. Large park right around the corner and many wonderful historic sights in short walking distance. Owner very friendly and accommodating.

Comfortable apartment, great location
Comfortable apartment, great location
We stayed in the apartment for 7 days in June, 2013. The owner Ombretta Fabri met us at the apartment and was friendly and helpful. The apartment is spacious, clean and charming, on the top floor of a 15th century palazzo. The apartment itself is very quiet but the front portico of the palazzo is hopping with a bar, pizza and ice cream shops, and a mini-mart. Ferrara was wonderful and a great location from which to explore the area; we took easy day trips to Bologna, Ravenna and Commachio. We had a car with us so the fact that Ombretta has a garage was important. We used the bicycles that came with the apartment for exploring Ferrara. Grocery store was a 10 minute walk (5 minute bike ride) from the apartment. Turns out the wireless internet was actually provided by the town of Ferrara, and although we signed up for it at town hall we were never able to make it work. We recommend this apartment and would stay there again.

Beautiful apartment in Ferrara
Beautiful apartment in Ferrara
We have spent four wonderful days in November 2011 in Ombretta Fabbri's comfortable apartment. The apartment is spacious, beautifully decorated, equipped with all you may need and right in the city centre. And we had a chance to live in a Renaissance palace! Ombretta was very kind and helpful - a perfect guest. We're looking forward to the day when we can return.

Perfect base to explore Ferrara and nearby area
Perfect base to explore Ferrara and nearby area
The two bedroom accommodation was charming and perfect for ourselves and our adult daughter-everything was provided and of a high standard , and the airconditioning was a boon in the glorious hot weather we enjoyed.
Our host was extremely gracious providing some great advice on restaurants and tips about local travel etc.
The apartment is well located with a bar, gelateria and coffee shop downstairs, supermarkets close by and the centre and old town only a short walk away. There is a convenient and frequent bus service to the railway station with Venice , Ravenna and Bologna less than an hour away by train.
Being at the top of a beautiful restored building there are several flights of steps to contend with-we are over 60 and found them no trouble but needs to be considered if accessibility is a priority.
Bottom line-we loved it and would highly recommend this property.

Ferrara and Palazzo Rinascimentale! To do!
Ferrara and Palazzo Rinascimentale! To do!
Ferrara appeared to be the right place from where to explore this part of Italy, with easy train connections to Bologna, Ravenna, Padova et cetera. Ferrara is a lively city without tourist groups blocking the doors of its great attractions or spoiling the beautiful squares and car-free streets. It happened to be the town where we really wanted to be and stay longer if we could. We visited the finest palazzo’s and museums, we strolled around and had a “spritz” in the afternoon at Barraria Giori near the Castle to observe street life with groups of old fashioned men gathering in the middle of the street for their daily conversation. The cobbled streets in the centre are for walkers and slow bikers. Everyone goes on a bike. We biked over the city walls and out of town to the river Po too. Our kind hostess Ombretta Fabbri had three bikes ready for us in her garage beside the court of the palazzo. We adored her spacious apartment and its tasteful interior. We felt at home too. It was exactly what we were looking for. Really a wonderful classic palazzo, divided in chic apartments. A quite famous writer stayed here for two months we noticed from the guest book. Such a place it is. We had breakfast with fresh bread, strawberries and prosciutto from the little shops just down the sidestreet. Each morning I stepped out of the court into the arcade with Bar Ariosto on my left hand for a cappuccino (you can sit under the old vaults of the arcade in the shade for hours) and an ice cream parlour on my right hand for the best ice cream in town (but not tasted by us before breakfast). I was reading Giorgio Bassani and at the same time following him into the Via Borso from the apartment window. Reading him gives Ferrara extra flavour, because he wrote topographically so beautiful of the town of his youth, and very little has changed, I believe. The piazza Ariostea has a great atmosphere, rather quiet during daytime, vivacious in the evening. Ombretta collected and delivered us from and to the airport bus with her teenager car (18 years old). Even the weather was perfect during our one week holidays in the spring with one or two cooler days for a change. Yes, we’ll be back to re-sense Ferrara and add to our perception Mantova, the Adriatic Coast and other places which we missed yet. My favorite book in the apartment was a picture book with old postcards. We wish Ombretta good luck in maintaining the apartment for her visitors.

Pleasant stay at Ferrara
Pleasant stay at Ferrara
We spent a wonderful fortnight at the 15th century palazzo in the centre of Ferrara. Within the historical walls there was an atmosphere of taste, calmness and beauty. When we stepped out of the pallazos main gate, we found ourselves right in the centre of a line of restaurants, cafes and gelaterias. Opposite of the building there is a fine, vivid park, where people stay for a picnic and relax in the afternoon sun.
Ferrara is a biking city and we enjoyed biking along canals, the river Po and along the city walls very much.
The apartment itself is tastefully furnished an equipped with everything necessary. Mrs. Fabbri is a very lovely lady, always ready to help and to give advice.
We definitely plan to come back.

Gorgeous apartment in Ferarra
Gorgeous apartment in Ferarra
Ferrara is a lovely city. We stayed a week in this apartment, which suited us perfectly. It is in a beautifully restored 15c. building, with a gorgeous courtyard. Everything is provided in the apartment, and it is very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is lively and interesting...within 5 minutes' walk you will find a lovely park (the velodrome), the wall, ancient streets, two fruit and vegetable stores, a lovely bakery, bars and cafes. Close by is an art museum and the Resistance Museum. In ten minutes' walk you are in the Medieval center. The owner of the apartment is just the nicest, most helpful landlady we have ever dealt with, and we have rented many apartments in Italy. She speaks perfect English (probably French as well), and is completely trustworthy and responsible. Parking is available inside the courtyard garage, there is a washing machine in the apartment, and lots of space.

We loved the apartment, the location and the city. Everything in the neighbourhood. We stayed with a family of 5 and really needed the airco. The apartment is cosy and comfortable and has everything you need. Late evening it can be a little noisy, but we were not really bothered. The garage was a great add-on and the availability of the bikes. Ombretta is a great host with tips and very responsive. She even brought the kids to the station, very kind. And do not forget to get the best ice cream (gelateria la romana) ever in the street.
